WEST ALEXANDRIA — Dennis Keith Strothman, 73, of Eaton, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2021. Born April 7, 1947 in Cincinnati, he was the youngest of nine children born to the late Arthur and Ruth (Jones) Strothman.
Dennis served in the U.S. Army from Aug. 1967 to Aug.1969. He earned the rank of Sgt. in Nov. 1968 and served with the 3rd Batallion, 19th Artillary, 1st Armored Division. He then deployed to Vietnam for a 1-year tour of duty and was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with four Bronze Service Stars. A member and former Commander of American Legion Post 377 of Camden, he was instrumental in getting the new Post building constructed. He was also a member of V.F.W. Post 1577 of Camden and Fraternal Order of Eagles of Gratis. Dennis was well-known for his wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed cars, auctions and garage sales.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death on May 20, 2010 by his wife of 43 years, Hope Ann Strothman, as well as grandson Nathan Brooks; sisters and brothers Ruth "Sissy", Art "Jr.", Helen, Charlie and Jean. Survived by wife Regina (Tuggle) Strothman, whom he married April 28, 2018; children Michelle Garrett and husband Nacomas of Camden, Lori Snyder and husband James of Elizabethtown, KY, Kimberly Evans and husband Keith of Camden, Tonya Brooks and husband Carl of Camden, and Dennis Jason Strothman of Camden; stepchildren America Swartzel and husband Jesse of Eatonand Christopher Browning and wife Amber of Lewisburg; Regina's stepchildren Roger Phillip Perry of Eaton, Sheri Waxler of Dayton and Jason Perry of Brookville; 12 grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and seven step- great-grandchildren; and sisters and brother Sue, Jane and Thomas.
Visitation and service were held Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Preble Memory Gardens Funeral Center, West Alexandria. Condolences at www.rlcfc.com.
