EATON – Gene A. Emrick, 94, of Eaton, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at his residence.
He was born on March 11, 1931, in Farmersville, to the late Lawrence Everett and Mary (Izor) Emrick. Gene was a U.S. Navy veteran that served during the Korean War. He was a very skilled outdoorsman and worked as a blacksmith and horse farrier for many years. He was very active and a faithful servant at Grace Lutheran Church in Eaton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Donna Emrick; daughter Kathi Mull; grandson Elijah Emrick, and infant brother Leonard A. Emrick.
He is survived by his son Mark (Debbie) Emrick of Eaton; son Ray (Dawn) Johnson of Rickreall, Oregon; son Bill (Linda) Johnson of Bedford, Indiana; son Matt Emrick of Eldorado; daughter Karen Schaeff (Walt Peffly) of Eaton; son Mickey (Anna) Emrick of Huber Heights; daughter Anna (Neil) Kirby of Jamestown, Indiana; grandchildren Charlotte (Josh) Short, Jessica (Jacob) Nelson, Amy (Jeremy) Weddle, Jennifer (Phillip) Thompson, Shawn Emrick, Yvonne (Kyle) Utz, Erin (Matt Stover) Emrick, Evan (Shelby) Emrick, Adam (Jenny) Schaeff, Jeremiah Emrick, Kristina (Jeremy) Casey, Zachary Emrick, Amanda Mull, Shawna (Eric) Roadcap and Dustin Mull; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 7, from 5-7 p.m. at the Gard Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 226 W. Main St. Eaton, OH 45320. Funeral service for Gene will be held on Tuesday, July 8, at 11 a.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church, 111 Lutheran Dr., Eaton, with Pastor Dwight Hanson officiating. Burial will follow at Mound Hill Cemetery in Eaton.
