William "Chuck" Upton, 73, of West Alexandria, passed away suddenly on Friday, June 7, 2013 at his residence.
He was born June 7, 1940 in Logan, West Virginia, to the late Edward and Kathryn (Whitman) Upton. He retired as a welder from the Norfolk-Southern Railroad after 27 years of employment and was a member of the B.M.W.E. He was the owner and operator of "Chuck's Cool-Aid Shop" of West Alexandria.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson Micheal Upton.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Donna Upton of West Alexandria; son William Upton, Jr. of Republic, Ohio; daughter Tonya (Tim) Glander of Eldorado, Ohio; grandchildren Nathan, Matthew, Stephen and Isaac Upton and Tyler and Chelsea Glander; stepbrother Harry Lunsford; uncle Jerry Whitman; aunts Mary Jeffrey and Vanessa Casey; brother-in-law Sherman Padgett; and sisters-in-law Darlene Strawser, Nancy (Dave) Taylor and Sandra Duke (Jim Stockslager).
Friends will be received on Thursday, June 13, 2013 from 6 p.m. until time of memorial service at 7 p.m. at the Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home, 226 West Main Street, Eaton. Memorial contributions may be made to the West Alexandria Emergency Squad, 8 Marty Lane, West Alexandria, OH 45381. William Jr. -I am so sorry for your loss. I didn't know your dad very well because he was always at work but I can guess what kind of man he was by the kind of kids he turned out. He must've been really special. We'll be thinking of you and praying for you all.
