LINTON EDWIN TERRELL
Linton Edwin Terrell, who was affectionately known to his family, students, and friends as Mr. T., G'pa, Cannonball, EZ Eddie, Old Goat, Papaw, Sniper Dan, and Your Highness, left this world at 2:08 a.m. on Sunday, May 5, 2024.
With pride and dedication, Ed served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 to 1987. He rose to the rank of Lt. Colonel. His passion for aviation grew stronger as he flew his personal planes with his wife, Susie, and friends Rodney and Glennda Dennerline, soaring through the skies with grace and precision.
As an educator, Ed inspired countless students at Western Hills High School from 1968 to 1993, leaving a lasting impact on their lives. Ed married his wife, Susie, and retired from the Cincinnati Public School System in 1993. He continued to share his wisdom and humor as a substitute teacher in several Southeastern Indiana school districts, earning him the affectionate title of "Mr. T". His unwavering optimism and infectious smile inspired all those around him, making him a true legend in the world of education.
With joy and devotion Ed spent his days as a father, stepdad, and grandfather, reveling in the simple pleasures of life - cheering on his loved ones at sports games, nurturing his yard, and delighting in the laughter of his grandchildren (14 of them) as they rode along on his lawnmower. Whenever his grandchildren needed guidance, he was there to offer a helping hand, serving as their trusted math tutor. As they explored their creativity through makeup, he happily took the role of their willing canvas, (after they had tied him up), his face brightening with each colorful stroke. One of the highlights of his retirement was baking pies and cookies for family and friends.
Mr. T was one of the most patient people you could ever meet. His wit, fist bumps, "Call me a cab" and personality will surely be missed. Till we meet again......................
He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Susie Terrell of Lawrenceburg, Ind.; two sons, Terry Terrell of Batesville, Ind., Drew Terrell of Dillsboro, Ind.; "Honorary Son", Chad (Kelsie) Terrell of Dillsboro; two stepsons, Jonathan Schroeder of Aurora, Ind., Daniel (Lisa) Schroeder of Moores Hill, Ind.; two stepdaughters, Carrie (Ray) Hobbs of Aurora, Jessica (BJ) Shealy of Aurora; sister-in-law Barb Terrell; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Linton Edwin Terrell; mother, Edith Hannah; two brothers, Wesley (Phyllis) Terrell, William Terrell; and his niece, Judy Williams.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, June 1, 2024, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Bright Christian Church, 24457 Stateline Road, Lawrenceburg, IN 47025. A celebration of life will be held at Bright Christian Church, Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 3 p.m. with Pastor Greg Edens officiating.
