07/21/2025
On July 21, 2025, Andrzej Chrzanowski, 69, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.
Andrzej was born on September 7, 1955, in Przasnysz, Poland, to Klementyna (Lyszkowska) and Marian Chrzanowski. He spent his early years in Poland, where he graduated from a trade school, followed by a three-year technical school specializing in grinding mechanics. After completing his education, he proudly served in the Polish Armed Forces from 1974 to 1976 as a tank operator.
On April 10, 1977, Andrzej married the love of his life, Justyna Drozdowska. He first visited the United States in 1980, and in 1986, he and his family immigrated permanently, settling in
Torrington, Connecticut. In 1997, Andrzej, his wife, and their eldest daughter proudly became naturalized U.S. citizens. He was employed by The Torrington Company, Timken, and then RBC until his retirement in 2020.
Throughout his life, Andrzej was deeply involved in both his church and the local Polish community. Proud of his heritage, he was an active member of the Polish National Alliance and the Polish Army Veterans Association of America, Post 110, for which he served as the Post's last Commandant.
Andrzej was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. He was a compassionate and selfless man who always prioritized his family and friends. If someone he knew was in need, he would find a way to help. He had a strong work ethic and enjoyed working with his hands, whether gardening or tackling home projects. He especially cherished time spent around the table with family and friends, sharing food, drink, conversation and laughter.
He was predeceased by his parents; his sisters, Krystyna Chrzanowska and Bozena Szczepanska; and his infant son, Adam.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Justyna; his daughters, Anna of Torrington, CT, and Violetta (Bart) of Redding, CT; and his brothers, Ryszard (Hanna) of Poland and Miroslaw (Zofia) of Torrington, CT. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Samantha, Alicia, Adam, Luca, and Ella; and his great-granddaughter, Kayleigh. He is fondly remembered by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Litchfield County for their exceptional care and support.
