Frederick Tedesco Obituary
Frederick Tedesco
Frederick (Fred) J. Tedesco, 80 years young, of Burlington, CT, entered into his eternal life on Tuesday. Courageously enduring a 93-day hospitalization, resulting from a catastrophic TBI on December 30, 2024. Born in Bristol, CT to the late Nicholas Tedesco Sr. and Eleanor (Knox) Tedesco of Plymouth, CT. Fred was a graduate of Terryville H.S. and an accomplished athlete on their gymnastics team. What would become a lifetime work ethic was evident at an early age. By the time he turned 7, Fred was delivering The Waterbury Republican & Hartford Courant newspapers to pay for his own haircuts; as well as shoveling driveways for literally 50 cents each! As he entered his early 20s he proudly purchased his prized 1966 GTO hardtop; the Goat!!! Which led to many friendship connections with each passing mile, the most special being with that of a young 9-year-old boy, who'd anticipate catching a glimpse of the Goat, knowing Fred daily drove by. Rides were given, which led to a lifelong friendship between Fred and Greg Hawksley. Fred later went on to serve as a F.T. Plymouth police officer before moving on to become a CT State Trooper in 1975; retiring 27 years later in 2002. During his distinguished career, he bravely and selflessly risked his own life each day to protect and to serve others. Assigned to the Statewide Narcotics Task Force (SNTF) the last 19 years of his career; working undercover narcotics, he fearlessly fought the good fight; despising the drug epidemic and senseless deaths left in its wake. Fred was responsible for writing and getting authorized, the first cell phone wiretap in CT during this time. He held the privilege of also becoming a CSP canine handler. After his initial much loved canine partner, Baron, was tragically killed, Fred was blessed to receive canine partner extraordinaire, A-Jhiro. Both dogs remained forever entwined with their master, waiting patiently for the day they would see Fred enter heaven. Their joy at Tuesday's reunion must have had heaven in an uproar!!! Fred loved building and driving hotrods and corvettes. A later project found Fred and his teenage son, Anthony, restoring a 1969 Camaro in the early 2000s. Fred's love for flying was unparalleled. He flew his beautiful 4 place-low wing Piper Cherokee every chance he got. Night flying was a favorite of his after getting off midnight shift. Flights to Montauk, often times with his sister, Robin, were also special. Fred unexpectedly found himself launched into another F.T career immediately after retiring from the CSP; accepting a job offer as Security Officer and Ass't. Vice President for CT Mutual Holding Co., where he implemented and upgraded security measures and handled all internal fraud cases, etc. Many good memories and friendships were formed over those years. An extraordinary man; the best of the best husband, father and friend to so many. An exemplary CT State Trooper; maintained a reliable and trust-worthy work ethic throughout his lifetime. Talented beyond words; he could fix just about anything. Kind, caring, honest, brave, decent, great sense of humor, and strong like a bull. Generous to all. Enjoyed his wife's good healthy homemade meals and desserts, a good red cab and the pleasure of sharing it all with friends and family. Fred loved the Lord, his wife, their son and the rest of his family and friends. Loved animals and all of nature. Left behind to grieve and gather the broken pieces of their hearts are: Fred's devoted and beloved wife of 40 years this August, Janet E. (Ciacchero) Tedesco of Burlington, CT; their much loved son Anthony F. Tedesco and his fiancée, Taylor McTeague, both of CT. Fred and Janet's cherished young dog, Maggie-Mae, and their inherited super-sized cat, Tucker. His brothers: Ralph Tedesco of FL and sister-in-law, Carol, Nicholas Tedesco Jr. of FL and sister-in-law, Ginny, Mark Tedesco of Bristol, CT and sister in law Pam. His sisters: Robin Graham of Terryville, CT and brother-in-law, John, and Jennifer Sirois of Terryville, CT (husband, Phil, was predeceased and brother-in-law to Fred). Fred leaves behind many nieces and nephews; cousins; a special aunt, Linda Knox; as well as some of the best friends anyone could ever hope for. Our family wishes to thank the first responders who answered the delta 911 that fateful night. Also heartfelt thanks to our dear friends, Grace Howard and Michelle and Brett Brown, all of Burlington, for your selfless acts of kindness and compassion that night and beyond. We love you. To those ( you know who you are) in ICU 5911 on April 1st, you are all God's earthly angels. Your exemplary acts of kindness and compassion will remain with us. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday (April 8, 2025) at 11 AM at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol. A private burial will follow in West Cemetery, Carter Rd., Plymouth. Relatives and friends may call at Funk Funeral Home on Monday between 4 and 8 PM.
