Torrington- George T. Carbone, 82, passed away Monday, October 6, 2025, at Wolcott Hall Nursing Facility, Torrington. He was the beloved husband of Paula E. (Gyurko) Carbone.
Mr. Carbone was born in Torrington on January 14, 1943, son of the late George and Joanna (Stomski) Carbone, and had been a lifelong Torrington resident. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and retired tool and die maker with the Torin Corp., retiring with over 40 years of service. George was a member of the Torrington Elks Lodge and a member of the Pigeons Club, where he raised and raced pigeons. Mr. Carbone loved to garden, growing and selling his own garlic. He enjoyed antiquing, exercising at Planet Fitness, and spending time outdoors with his dogs. Mr. Carbone enjoyed spending time out in nature with his sons, especially fishing and foraging for mushrooms.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, Paula, include two sons, Christopher G. Carbone and Paul T. Carbone, both of Torrington; a granddaughter, Sage B. Carbone Crowley and her husband, Timothy, of Boston, MA; and a brother, James Carbone of Torrington. Mr. Carbone was predeceased by his son, Michael J. Carbone.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 10, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Torrington. Friends may call Friday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
