Gloria R. Presto
"Beloved mother, grandmother & friend"'
Gloria R. (Massimiano) Presto, 97, of Southbury, formerly of Naugatuck, was reunited with her husband in heaven on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at the Lutheran Home in Southbury. She was the beloved wife for 70 years to the late Joseph F. Presto who predeceased her on April 17, 2023.
Gloria was born on January 4, 1928, in Philadelphia, PA. She was the daughter of the late Louis and Maria (Porecco) Massimiano. Gloria grew up in Pennsauken, NJ and graduated from Merchantville High School in 1946. She worked at Philadelphia Children's Hospital where she met the love of her life Joseph who was a pharmacist there. They got married on April 11, 1953 in Pennsauken, NJ and resided in Naugatuck, CT where they raised their two sons. Gloria and Joseph enjoyed travel and went to Italy, Hawaii, and England. They made numerous summer trips to Cape Cod, MA and Margate, NJ with family. Gloria enjoyed cooking & baking, making amazing meals for her family. Holidays at her home were always special, especially Christmas Eve where she carried out the tradition of the Italian Feast of the Seven Fishes a tradition which will continue every year by her family. Gloria played the piano and introduced the joy of music to her grandchildren. She was for the most part was a quiet & reserved person but had a great sense of humor.
Gloria leaves behind to cherish her memory her two sons, Frank Presto and his wife Bonnie of NH, Richard Presto and his wife Joanne of Southbury, as well as her four beloved grandchildren, Jenna Presto, Joseph Presto, Zachary Presto and his wife Jill and Ricki Lee Presto and her husband Steve Dedee. She also leaves four great grandchildren Abby, Zoey and William Presto and Griffin Dedee. Gloria also leaves her two nieces who were like daughters to her, Gloria and Donna Cettei of Haddonfield, NJ. She was predeceased by her siblings, Ted, Andy, Gene and Sam Massimiano, and Caroline (Massimiano) Cettei.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Lutheran Home for their special care to Gloria and Joseph.
Arrangements: A calling hour for Gloria will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Brookside Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home & Crematory, 200 Benson Road, Middlebury. A prayer service will take place at the conclusion of the calling hour at 11:00 a.m. Burial of Gloria and Joseph's cremains will follow at St. James Cemetery in Naugatuck.
