Harold Stoeffler Obituary

Harold J. Stoeffler Jr.
Harold J. Stoeffler Jr. of 6 Anna Jay Lane New Preston passed into eternal life on March 26, 2026. Most recently, he resided at Candlewood Valley Rehab in the long-term care wing due to several ongoing medical challenges. Harold, affectionately known as "Honey" was a lifelong resident of the Town of Washington. He was a graduate of Washington High School and a graduate of UCONN as a licensed pharmacist. As a long-time pharmacist, his tenure included several places of employment and service. Honey worked at many local pharmacies including, The Washington Pharmacy (prior to the flood of 1955) which was owned by his father, The Green Drug, Lautier's Pharmacy, Slone's Pharmacy and his own business, New Preston Pharmacy. During his time owning and running New Preston Pharmacy for several decades, former Postman Joe Martin unofficially named Honey, "The Mayor of New Preston" which stuck with many citizens and friends.
He was an avid golfer and member of the Washington Golf Club and enjoyed the game of basketball especially during the NCAA tournament. Honey participated in many road race events throughout Connecticut including the historic Manchester Road Race. He served on many town committees including: the Redevelopment Commission (1955 Flood), Zoning, and the Republican Town Committee. He was the President of The Washington Community Fund and served one term as a Justice of the Peace. As an accomplished amateur photographer and collector of artifacts, several of his print pictures, post cards and other memorabilia can be viewed in the Gunn Memorial Museum.
Harold is survived by his wife Patricia of 62 years, his brother Richard of Tolland CT, sons Todd (Alice) and Jamie who has been a primary care giver for several years. Harold has three grandchildren (Todd and Alice), JP, Christina and Tara Marie.
Arrangements are private and donations can be made to The Washington Community Fund. Lillis Funeral Home of New Milford has care of Harold and his family.
