Mildred Magda Obituary

Mildred A. Magda
July 11, 2025
Mildred Alice (Satula) Magda, "Millie", age 96, of Seymour, and a former longtime Oxford resident, entered into peaceful rest on July, 11, 2025. She was the beloved wife of 39 years to the late Joseph F. Magda. Mrs. Magda was born November 11, 1928, in Waterbury, daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Zelvis) Satula, and was of Lithuanian decent. Millie grew up in Waterbury, and she was a 1946 Graduate of Wilby High School. As a dedicated homemaker, Millie also worked in Ciesinski's Bake Shop and the former Klarides in the Bakery Dept. She continued her love of baking, always having a sweet treat for any occasion. Millie was a Communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Oxford, and served on the Ladies Guild for several years. She was proud to have been on the Oxford Democratic Registrar of Voters and loved seeing all the Oxford residents during elections. Millie loved any opportunity to play BINGO, a good card game, Yahtzee, or take a chance on a Lottery Ticket. She was also an avid reader and loved to watch UCONN Basketball and the Red Sox as well.
Mildred fiercely loved her children and her many nieces and nephews; she leaves her loving children, Robert Magda of Seymour, Gary Magda of Oxford, and Susan Chellis and her companion, Francis McGeever of Middlebury. She was predeceased by brothers, Albert and Edward Satula, and her sisters, Frances Butkis and Theresa Verseckas. Calling Hours are Wednesday, from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St., Seymour. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 733 Oxford Rd., Oxford, at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Southford Cemetery. Memorial Gifts may be sent to Oxford Center Fire Co., or Oxford Ambulance Assn. at 484 Oxford Road, Oxford, CT 06478. I worked at Smithfield Gardens where Millie was a resident for my 13 yrs there. She was a great Penny Poker player. She never missed a week playing. She was always smiling and was kind to everyone. I loved Milly very much.
