Thompson "Tom" Curtis was born in Waterbury, CT to Cynthia Thompson Curtis and J. Robert Curtis, and was raised in Middlebury, CT. He attended South Kent Prep High School, and Colby College in Maine. For most of his life, he worked alongside his father in the family business, Curtis Products, eventually succeeding him as CEO.
He married Roseanne Kusaila in 1966, and they had a daughter and a son together. In 1982 he married Kymara Shoby (now Lonergan), and they had a daughter. Later in life, in 1999 he married Heidi Jensen Fielder, who was his loving spouse of 26 years until his last days.
Thompson loved his house on Buckingham Street where he lived for over four decades, and took great pride in it. He loved his family and his friends. He loved his dogs, Queenie, Choppy, Bailey, and Buddy. A talented cook and lover of fine food, Tom also enjoyed bowling at the Waterbury Club, and golfing at Highfield Country Club. He and his wife Heidi were longtime members of the Middlebury Swim Club, which was their favorite place. They also sang together for many years in the Naugatuck Community Choir.
Tom is survived by his three beloved children: Tatianna "Tate" Curtis, Thaddeus "Todd" Curtis, and Amanda Curtis; his beloved grandson Anton Cruz; and his beloved stepdaughter, Mary Fielder. His older brother John Robert Curtis Jr. also survives him.
His wife Heidi passed away weeks before Tom's death. She lovingly cared for him throughout his illness, allowing him to stay at home for as long as possible, even while she was enduring her own medical challenges. May they both rest in peace.
