BETHLEHEM- Wanda Shyrl (Carter) Johnson, 73, passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at her home in Bethlehem, surrounded by her devoted family. She was the beloved wife of 50 years to Richard Johnson.
Wanda was born in Jacksonville, FL on November 21, 1951, daughter to the late Lloyd and Lula (Hodges) Carter. She grew up in Jacksonville, Florida and lived in Texas and Ohio before settling in Connecticut. She was a long-time employee of the U.S. Postal Service, where she was a clerk in their Marbledale and Morris offices. There was nothing that brought her more joy than cooking and taking care of her family and friends.
Besides her husband, Wanda is survived by her sons, Richard L. Johnson of Bethlehem and Jeremy Johnson and his wife Millie of Roxbury; her grandchildren, Pierce, Brianna, Tessa and Noah; her brother, Darell Carter of St. Mary's, Georgia; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents, Wanda was predeceased by her sister, Patricia Soles.
All services are private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Hickcox Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Wanda's name to The American Cancer Society.
