Winston Seeran Obituary
April 2, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that his family announces the passing of their beloved husband and father, Winston D. Seeran of Torrington, CT, age 80, on April 2, 2025.
Born in Trinidad and Tobago in 1944, he later moved to St. Thomas, USVI where he met and later married his wife, Ellen, after a whirlwind romance. They later settled in Stamford, CT where their daughter Robin was born. They moved to Torrington in 1986 to be closer to family. Winston was beloved by everyone, including his two cats, Rusty and Pixie who were obsessed with him.
Winston worked for Omega Engineering in Stamford for 34 years, starting as a welder and later promoted to production manager. He achieved the "American Dream". His hard work reaped rewards. In retirement, Winston was a driving instructor for several years and then drove the Sullivan Center medical transport van. Oh, how the ladies loved him, bringing him knitted booties and snacks.
Winston enjoyed bowling, horse races, Saratoga Raceway, betting at OTB, poker, traveling, and sardines. He enjoyed watching sports on TV, especially basketball. Winston and his daughter shared a love of detective novels. But, most of all, he valued his family.
He is survived by Ellen, his wife of 51 years and his daughter Robin of Somerville, MA. He also leaves behind his brother, Joe Seeran, and his niece Jennifer Curran and nephew Andy Seeran, his brother-in law and sister-in law, Ed and Sharon Nichols of PA.
He was a gift to all and his loss is profound. A truly good, decent, generous man is gone. Always to be remembered.
Cook Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. There will be a remembrance gathering at the Cook Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Sons of Jacob Cemetery, 1760-1878 Winsted Rd., Torrington, CT.
