Carol Ann van der Hoop

Carol Ann van der Hoop died April 5th at her home in the presence of her family after a long battle with cancer, she was 53. She is survived by her husband Daniel and her three children: Sarah, Benjamin, and Peter. Born in Fort Worth, TX to Darrel and Frances Martin her family soon relocated to Loveland, CO where she grew up. It was while attending CSU that she met her husband Dan. They were married in the fall of 1984. Carol saw every situation as a teaching moment and found her stride when she opened her home child care. She ran her own business for over 25 years and helped countless children through early childhood. She loved cooking and was never far away from her sewing machine, making clothing, costumes, and quilts of all sizes. In recent years, Carol and Dan travelled across the country working towards her goal of visiting all 50 states. She loved seeing lighthouses anytime she was near a coast line, taking factory tours, and taking in the beauty of nature. She was a true citizen of Colorado, enjoying camping, canoeing, river rafting, and skiing. Carol was the perfect spouse, a caring mom, and the best teacher. She was loved and she will be missed. Memorial service will be held at 5:00 pm on Thursday, April 16th at the Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Parish in Loveland.
