Donna Rye Obituary

Donna L. Rye (89) of Loveland, Colorado, passed away on October 13, 2023, 14 days shy of her 90th birthday, with family by her side. Donna is survived by son Randy Rye (Ellen Laubhan), son Dan Rye (Brigid Devney-Rye), son Greg Rye (Lisa Rye), and daughter Ramona Perkins (Rye). Donna is also survived by grandchildren: Court Rye, Cassia Hanton (Rick Hanton), Summer Rye, Sam Rye, and Ben Rye, and great-grandchildren Kalen and Dylan Hanton. Donna was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to parents John and Nora Entenman (Engelbrecht) on October 27, 1933. She attended Washington High School in Sioux Falls. After graduating, she worked for a local grocery store and was promoted to head cashier. After getting married, she moved with her family to Riverside, California, and then to Loveland, Colorado in 1970. Donna's pride and joy were her children and grandchildren. She was dearly loved by family and friends who joined together to celebrate her 85th birthday with an Octoberfest-themed party complete with German food, Polka band and beer. After raising her family, Donna owned and operated a residential property management business, Estate Builder Property Management, in Loveland. She also opened a local art gallery called The Artisan's Trunk. Art was one of Donna's passions; she worked in many different medias. Donna was very active in the Loveland community. As a founding member of the High Plains Art Council, she helped with the inaugural Sculpture in the Park 35 years ago. She also served on the Loveland Museum Board and worked as a Loveland Senior Volunteer in her later years. Donna found strength in her faith and fellowship in local churches. At First United Presbyterian church, she served as an elder. At Trinity Lutheran, she served on the property committee, was president of the Faith Circle and led the annual "Blue Jean Sunday" and Rummage sale. Donna married Glenn Rye on August 19, 1954, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota; they were married for 35 years. Donna is preceded in death by her former husband, Glenn Rye, daughter Angela Ann Rye (1955-1968); her parents, sisters, and brothers, John and Norma Entenman, Nora McComish, Caroline Moses, John Entenman, James Entenman; and son-in-law, Scott Perkins. The family would like to thank UCHealth and its many specialists who provided excellent care for Donna in her final years.
