Hildegarde (Hilde) Solveig Sather, 92, of Loveland, died Friday, January 27, 2012, at Fort Collins Good Samaritan Village.
Hilde was born on September 3, 1919, in Naples, South Dakota, to Rev. and Mrs. Halvor Huseth. She married Rev. Paul D. Sather on June 16, 1944, in Lake Mills, Iowa.
She graduated from Waldorf Junior College in Forest City, Iowa, and Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. After graduation, she taught high school shorthand, typing and bookkeeping until her marriage and subsequent move to Paul's first parish. He served several parishes in South Dakota, before becoming the pastor at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Longmont, from 1957 until his retirement in 1983, when Hilde and Paul moved to Loveland.
She is survived by a daughter, Lois (John) Sather Borhman, of Washington, D.C.; two sons, Steven (Jacquelyn) Sather, of Houston, Texas, and Mark (Karen) Sather of Denver; two grandchildren, Jennifer (Brent Bedard) Fly, of Louisville, Colorado, and Joshua Fly, of New York City; two great-grandchildren, Mary Hegwood and Jack Bedard, both of Louisville; a brother, Joseph (Elaine) Huseth, of Madison, Wisconsin; a sister, Marilyn Pettit, of Vancouver, Washington; a sister-in-law, Helen Huseth, of Tacoma, Washington; and a son-in-law, Robert Fly, of Kerrville, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, in 1988; a son, Paul D. Sather, Jr., in 1982; a daughter, Mary Fly, in 1996; a sister, Dorothy Mae Larson, in 2008; and a brother, David Huseth, in 2011.
A memorial service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church in Loveland on Monday, January 30, at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Sonja Pancoast officiating.
Memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church or the Paul D. and Hilde S. Sather Memorial Scholarship Fund at Augustana College.

So sorry I did not make it back to Loveland to see Hilde. I last saw her in 2007 and she looked the same as she did in 1987. She used to hold my daughter in 1986 when we lived next door. In 2007, I had my daughter’s baby girl with me and she held her too on her lap. Was like old times. I will definitely miss getting to see you, but we will meet again in Heaven! Love you Hilde!!!
