Jimmy Marshall Obituary

Jimmy K. Marshall, age 62, formally of Loveland, died February, 22, 2016 in Corozal, Belize. Jim was born in La Junta, Colorado on April 6, 1953 to Olga and Herbert Marshall. His childhood home was in Leadville, Colorado. He married Lillian Charlene Carpenter in October of 1974. He served in the Navy Submarine Service from 1974 - 1980. Jim and Charlene moved to Loveland, Colorado in 1980. Jim worked as a Kodak maintenance mechanic from 1980 - 2013. After retirement from Kodak, Jim and Charlene fulfilled their lifelong dream and moved to Belize. Jim was an avid scuba diver, scuba instructor, and was a talented under water photographer. Jim was preceded in death by his son, Michael Aaron Marshall in 1989; his parents; and sister, Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Charlene; his brothers, Jerry and Gary; and three generations of nieces and nephews. While Jim never lost his love for the Colorado Mountains, the call of the sea was stronger. He died in a place that he loved, living the life that he loved, with the woman that he loved. Jim's laughter, enthusiasm, and zeal for life will never be forgotten.

I didn't know Jim, though I'm sure I met him once since I studied Julius Caesar at your house back in the 9th grade. I was friends with Mike in junior high and have been thinking about him a lot lately for some reason, so I pulled out my year book and found his obit, which made me look up his parents' names and led me to find this. My heart is with you, Charlene.

Always a smile and a booming laugh.. A man I know would gladly give the shirt off his back if that was what was needed. Jim, you lived your life with enthusiasm and pure joy. At the darkest time of your life you opened your heart, shared your family and at times your home with me and my kids. You acted as a role model for my four children and a loving Godfather to my oldest grandchild. When they were young, you and Char never let a year go by that my kids did not get to celebrate the holiday seasons and the excitement of Santa on Christmas morning. When I needed you, you and Char have always been there (and those times have been many!!). For 27 years you have been one of my very dearest friends. You and Char even had to "approve" of Bruce!! And you then opened your heart to him also. I have never had a brother. We do not get to pick our families, but if I were to pick a brother, it would be no one but you, my friend. I am a better person, my children and Nicolas are all better people to have had you in our lives. We will meet again, my friend. Until then, I will hold the joy of you in my heart. You are so loved, and you will be missed more that words could ever say. Rest in Peace my dear friend.

Jim is something special. His love for life was evident to me since I can remember, actually. Char is my moms best friend, so I really don't remember a life without them, which I will always hold dear to my heart. You could be a block away from him and hear that boisterous laugh, and you knew Jim was around. I can only hope to love half as much as Jim. I love you Char, and will always be here for you. Love, Kevin

I will always remember our road trip in the pouring rain to the Blue Hole, Herman's Caves and lunch at Cayes Branch. Because I couldn't give up the co-pilot seat poor Jim hung half his rear on the seat behind me. It was one of those 3/4 seats and not big enough for three but he didn't complain. We had so much fun that day. You will truly be missed.

Char .. Our trip to Cozumel in 2015 when you and Jim were there was so delightful. Jim's laugh made everyone happy even if you weren't! He could go up to a complete stranger and within a minute be like a longtime friend of theirs. He had a great personality. He was a wonderful people person. Santa was a good "nick" name for him, not for giving presents but he gave happiness, humor and love what more should anyone ask for. He will be missed greatly. We love you and offer love and prayers to help you during this great time of loss. Mike and Toni Barrett
