Dr. Michael Iacoboni DDS

Dr. Michael Angelo Iacoboni, DDS passed away suddenly of a cardiac event, at his home in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua on Monday March 22, 2021. He was 72. Michael is survived by his son Angelo Michael Iacoboni, granddaughter Rachel, brothers Anthony and Steve, brother-in-law Mitchell Oshinsky, nephews Michael John, Christopher and Gabriel Iacoboni and Andrew Oshinsky, and nieces Gloria Iacoboni and Erin Oshinsky. A California native, Michael attended Occidental College and graduated from UCLA School of Dentistry in Los Angeles, CA. in 1973. He was a resident of Colorado since 1974, He formed the Healing Arts Center in Loveland, a multidiscipline clinic with partners Dr. Larry Krantz, MD and Dr. Cecil Taylor, DC. in 1980. He was a graduate of the L.D. Pankey Institute of Advanced Dental Education, President of the Colorado Academy of General Dentistry and a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry. Michael served as a volunteer dentist in many capacities, and in 1990 took a sabbatical to serve in the Marshal Islands on the tall ship sailing vessel, the SSV Tole More. His capacity for gaining and sharing knowledge and his generosity of service was boundless. Michael retired from dentistry in 1998. His interest in the sea took him to San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua in 2000 with his partner Jane Mirandette, where he spent his remaining years. Together with Jane he opened a Bed and Breakfast, the Villa Isabella. Michael helped found and support the first public library in Nicaragua, the San Juan Del Sur Biblioteca Publica. Michael understood the value of libraries. His father was the founding Mayor of Lakewood CA, where the Public Library there bears his name, the Angelo M. Iacoboni Public Library. Mike was often seen on the porch of the Villa Isabella. He enjoyed playing both host and breakfast cook to the many international guests and volunteer groups. His larger-than-life persona and boundless, generous heart and spirit will be deeply missed.
