Robert Cadwell

1925 - 2014

Robert Preble Cadwell died Friday, July 18, 2014, in Mesa, AZ. He was 88. Bob was born August 28, 1925, in Waubay, SD, to Hazel Preble and Lloyd Lorane Cadwell. Bob blessed his family and friends with patience, generosity, humor, a strong moral compass and vivid stories of his life. Growing up, Bob lived with his family in small towns in North and South Dakota. At age 17, he joined the Navy, entering service in World War II in August 1943. He was stationed on the USS Yorktown. After the war, Bob married Ramona Dilley on June 24, 1950. He worked as a mail carrier becoming Superintendent of the Mails in Moorhead, MN, and then Postmaster in Jamestown, ND. Ramona died in July 1992. Bob married Sharon Sealy Lenthe on November 26, 1993, in Loveland, CO. Until recently they split their time between homes in Loveland, CO, and Mesa, AZ, enjoying many friendships in both cities. Survivors include his wife, Sharon, children Rob Cadwell (Jo), Paula Cadwell, Jill Larson, Tom Cadwell (Julie), Jim Cadwell (Cyndi), Cheri Cadwell, 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Helen Barsalou and Bobbie Paradis. Bob is also survived by Sharon's children Diann Bottrell (Michael), Sue Lenthe (Doug Lindgren), Karen Jayne (David), Steve Lenthe (Toni) and six grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, two sons-in-law, his parents, a brother and sister. Funeral services will be August 2, 2014, 10 a.m., at First Lutheran Church in Fargo, ND.
