MIDLAND, TX
Bernice Ray Varner, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2016 at Midland Memorial Hospital. Services for Bernice Ray Varner, 85, of Midland Texas, formally of Baird, Texas will be held at First United Methodist Church in Baird, Texas, on Friday, October 14, 2016 at 10:00 AM.
Bernice was born on April 28, 1931 in Baird, Texas to Raleigh Ray & Margie Ray Sullivan. She attended Baird High School. She married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Paul Varner, on September 17, 1949 in Abilene. Baird, Texas was their hometown. They moved to Midland in 1964. She was a homemaker, member of First United Methodist Church of Baird and First Christian Church of Midland, avid golfer who loved fishing, all types of card games, gardening, cooking and loved her family.
Bernice is survived by her daughter, Paula Varner Johnson of Midland; son-in- law, Billy Sanders of Arlington; grandchildren, R.P. Johnson (wife Renee) of Houston, Kelly Holly (husband Mark) of Midland, Joey Johnson (wife Amy) of Trophy Club, Dr. Bret Sanders (wife Christie) of Mansfield, Shane Sanders (wife Michelle) of Ft. Worth, Brandi Bell (husband Geoff) of Midland; 22 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Bernice is preceded in death by her mother Margie Ray Sullivan, husband Paul Varner, daughter Marianne Sanders and son Raleigh Max Varner.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to St. Jude's Hospital, First United Methodist Church of Baird or First Christian Church of Midland.
