away August 30, 2015 in

Abilene. A memorial Ser

vice will be held at 11:00

AM, Saturday, October

10, 2015 in the Elmwood

Funeral Home Chapel.

Internment will follow the

service in Winters, TX at

2:00 PM.

Bill was born in Drasco,

TX to John and Pearl Ryals

Downing. He grew up in

Winters, TX and began

serving our country in

the United States Navy

during WWII. He was later

recalled to service and

served during the Korean

War. He married Jeanette

Pardon in 1946 and they

began their marriage in

New York before moving

to Winters to raise the family. He began

his career in the aerospace industry with Gen

eral Dynamics in Fort Worth where he worked

from 1955-1961. After relocating to Abilene he

continued his career working for Automation

Industries until his retirement in 1990. He enjoyed

spending his free time hunting, fishing, golfing, and

woodworking in his garage.

Bill is survived by his three children; sons, John C

Downing of Colorado, R. Joe Downing of Maybank, TX;

daughter, BJ Davis of Colorado; and one grandson,

Cameron Davis of Colorado.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Pardon

Downing; brother, J.L. Downing of Winters, TX; sister,

Nelda Flournoy of Metairie, LA; and his parents.
