Byron Royce Vaughan Jr. was born February 25, 1935 ,in Abilene, Texas. He passed from this life September 11, 2017, in Abilene.
Byron was preceded in death by his parents, Byron R. and Joyce Porter Vaughan and his son, Robert Vaughan.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Janice Gowan Vaughan, daughter Teresa Thompson; two sons, David Vaughan and wife Sandra; Scott Vaughan and wife Jana. Byron is also survived by step-daughter, Jennifer Howard and husband Russ, grandchildren Olivia, Georgia, Amanda, Leland, Christina, Joshua, Misty, Tate, Allison, Chance; and eight great-grandchildren. He is survived by a sister, Linda Gilliland and husband Larry, and a brother, Donnie Vaughan and wife Vickie. Byron left behind many friends including his dear friend Tommy Goodwin.
Byron was a gifted photographer. However, his greatest talent was demonstrated on canvas through paintings and pencil sketches of historic homes and buildings of West Texas. He also had a special love for sketching old trucks and automobiles. Byron was a member of the Highland Church of Christ.
There will be a memorial service at the Highland Church of Christ at 1:00PM, September 14, 2017, with Pastor Dickie Porche officiating.
Memorials may be given to Hendrick Hospice, 1651 Pine, Abilene Texas 79601.
