Charles Patrick Verner

Abilene, TX

Charles Patrick Verner, 75, passed away, Friday, June 17, 2016 after his brave battle with cancer. At his request, there will be no funeral service, but only a visitation for friends and family from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Abilene Funeral Home Chapel of Hope, 3349 North 12th Street. Arrangements for cremation will follow, entrusted to Abilene Funeral Home. Inurnment will be at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at a later date.

Mr. Verner was born July 17, 1940, in Abilene, TX to the late Charles B. and Billie Dunn Verner. Charles had a long career as a musician in the U.S. Navy Band and performed with many specialty groups.

Survivors include his sons, Charles Patrick Jr., Thomas, Heiner and Reiner Verner; five brothers, Mike, Randy, Thomas, Robert and Dale Verner; two sisters, Iris Hodge and Cathy Moore; and a dear niece, Elke Randall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hardin Simmons University Symphony Orchestra, 2200 Hickory Street, Abilene, TX 79601, care of Dr. Jeff Cottrell.

Pat will be sorely missed. He was such a ray of sunshine. I loved hearing his stories from past gigs and his time in the NORAD band. I know he's entertaining the angels now.
