Clyde A. Terrell, 82, passed away Monday, January 9, 2012, at a local medical center. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 12, 2012, at Woodlawn Church of Christ. Burial will follow in Newman Cemetery (near Sylvester, Texas), directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory. The family will receive friends at a visitation 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Clyde was born March 25, 1929 to Jesse and Alma (Phemister) Terrell in Weinert, Texas. He graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1947 and married Birdie Fay Parker on September 9, 1950 in Sweetwater, TX.
Clyde retired from Morrison Supply Plumbing Company and then worked for Bible Hardware. He was a very faithful member of Woodlawn Church of Christ where he was a Deacon of the Congregation and a Sunday School teacher. Clyde was a very active member of the Greater Abilene Kiwanis Club and also coached baseball and softball. He loved to travel.
Clyde loved his family dearly. He put his family first and was a great father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Birdie Terrell; and a sister, Mildred Perry.
Survivors include his son, James Terrell of Midland; his daughter, Laura Thomas of Galveston; a brother, Jimmie Terrell; two grandchildren, Jessica Hackworth of League City, TX and Kandis Barbie and husband, Justin of Abilene; and four great-grandchildren, Jaxton, Jaedon, Reilly, and Londyn.
