Guy "Walter" Morrow, 69, of Abilene went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday June 10th. Memorial services will be held Friday, June 22nd at 9:00 A.M. at Big Country Raceway located at 5601 W. Stamford St Abilene, TX with Raceway Chaplain, Steve Longmire and Pastor PK Clyde Kieschnick officiating. The family thanks friend and owner of BCR, Stirling Robertson for hosting.

Walter was born October 25, 1948 to James L. "Jiggs" and Nell Morrow in Abilene, Texas. He attended elementary school in Hawley, Texas until his family moved to Winters, where Walter graduated from high school in 1967. Throughout his life he excelled at many activities. He was an avid and talented team roper, and was a heeler. A highlight was the WTFR roping where he entered with header, Fred Killough, the two were 9.6 which won the roping even beating all of the PRCA professionals entered. He was actively involved in the racing community over 40 years, where he meticulously built motors for his own car and many friends and was a competitive racer.

Walter taught mechanics for 35 years for Abilene I.S.D. at Woodson Skill Center, Franklin MS, and Abilene HS until his retirement. Throughout these years he continued to work in the racing industry. One of his favorite memories was meeting his hero, Dale Earnhardt in the pit at a NASCAR race in Dallas.

Walter was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Breakfast Optimist Club, NHRA, Performance Car Club Assoc, and was a Mason. Walter was known for his quick wit, honest dealings, generosity and good humor...as long as you weren't caught parking in his spot at BCR.

At the age of 38, he met the love of his life, Sharon, while working for WSC. The story goes that Sharon was the only girl he ever brought home to meet his family. The couple was married 30 years. The two enjoyed their grandchildren and dachshunds, Annie and Baby. Sharon preceded Walter in death a short 9 weeks earlier, April 7th, after battling pancreatic cancer.

Walter was also preceded in death by his parents, Uncle Jack and Aunt Rebecca Morrow, Uncle Clayton "Rosy" Morrow, his namesake Uncle Guy Weeks, Uncle L.E. Weeks, Grandparents, Luther and Ruby Weeks, and Grandparents, Walter and Alice Morrow.

Walter was survived by his loving daughter, Robin Bauzon and husband, Jeff, and two granddaughters, Addy and Eliot of Buda, TX, brother, Jimmy "Roper" Morrow of Sarasota, FL, Aunt Jo Weeks of Abilene, Uncle Clyde "Lefty" Morrow of Hawley, cousin affectionately referred to as his sister, Diane Morrow Lundgren of Hawley, niece Shanna Morrow of Los Angeles, CA, cousins, Bud Weeks of Amarillo and Ruth Weeks Stokes of Abilene, step-son Keith Gaston, wife, Debbie and their sons; Joshua, and Alex of Austin, TX and numerous loving cousins and family of Hawley and Abilene.
