Gwendolyn Wistrand Obituary
COLORADO CITY, TX
Gwen was born in Weatherford, Texas to Lee Carter and Fay Kirkpatrick Carter Grable. They moved to Colorado City when she was 2 years old. She lived here for most of her life. She was very dedicated to this city, All Saint's Episcopal Church, the playhouse and the library. She touched many lives through her volunteer work and her work at the Community Center, teaching Kindergarten, and substitute teaching in the public schools.
She is survived by her children: Sally Wistrand and wife, Dawn Tschabrun of Placitis, New Mexico; Hunter Wistrand and wife, Virginia of Spring Branch, Texas; Richard Wistrand and wife, Anne of Crowley, Texas; Fay Ellis and husband, Bill of Colorado City; and Anna Walter and husband, Stephen of Boerne, Texas. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild and 2 great-great grandchildren arriving in a few months. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Millie Duebel and husband, Ken of Port Charlotte, Florida, and sister-in-law, Doris Avila of New Jersey.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Wistrand; her parents, Lee Carter and Fay Carter Grable; her step-father Bernie Grable; and her great-grandchild, William Robert Ellis.
Viewing will be on Tuesday, July 25th until 5:00PM. Services will be at All Saint's Episcopal Church on Wednesday, July 26th at 11:00 AM. Gwen will be buried in the Oakland Cemetery in Weatherford, Texas next to her loving husband, Dick, on Thursday July 27th at 1:00PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to All Saint's Episcopal Church, Mitchell County Library or a charity of your choice.

Richard & family
My sincere sympathy during this difficult time. I met your Mom one day as she & Delores were out riding in their little carts & I was outside In my yard. They stopped to visit & she introduced herself. I replied, you must be Richard's mom. I told her we had worked together at Morgan Creek & we were immediately friends. I conveyed to her that although you had left here many years ago, you were always so gracious & friendly each time you were back or if I ran into you at any site, I would receive a greeting & usually a hug. She beamed with pride. Although I did not know her well, she was so very cordial & I saw such a sweet caring lady. She was very proud of her Richsrd & family. And each time they happened by, there was always time for a visit. They were so cute speeding along in their carts. You can certainly know she will be missed here as you will miss her. She was truly a special lady.
