Joseph Swinney Obituary

Joseph "Joey" William
Swinney
Haskell

Joseph William Swinney was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on May 31, 2010 at Hendrick Medical Center at the age of 40. He was met at the pearly gates with his Mothers arms open wide. Joey was born September 8, 1969 in Haskell County to Billand Darlene Swinney.
Joey was employed by TXDOT for 15 years where he gained many brothers. He was a member of the Haskell Church of Christ where he felt so much love and support.
Joey married Tamara Lynn Decker on Feb. 25, 2000 in Haskell. He is the rock of his family and loved by so many friends. Joey never met a stranger and would give the shirt off his back to help anyone.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and being outdoors. The biggest enjoyment he had was being with his wife and kids and giving love to them and making sure they were protected and taken care of. Joey has a heart that is unexplainable and a strength that would overcome any situation good or bad. You could always depend on Joey to be there for you whenever and wherever. He loved football and the Dallas Cowboys. Another joy in his life was supporting Haskell Heroes for Autism Speaks all for his little boy Will who has autism. Both of his kids were his world and he is the best father and husband.
He is survived by his wife Tamara, daughter Tristen Maelynn, son James William "Will". His father Bill Swinney, sister Shelia Cothron, niece Shelby Morrow, nephew Preston Morrow all of Haskell. Father-in-law Lonnie Decker, mother-in-law Trisha Decker of Stanton, Brother-in-law Jim Decker and sister-in-law Diana Decker of Midland, his TxDOT brothers and special friend Shane Stout. Along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved him so very much.
He was preceded in death by his mother Darlene Swinney and a cousin Monty Mueller.
Joey has touched many lived in his short time here on earth and will continue. He may be gone but never forgotten. In lieu of flowers donations are being taken for Haskell Heroes in support of Autism Speaks c/o Missy Burson 1307 N Ave F, Haskell, TX 79521.
Services will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2010, 10 am, at the Church of Christ, Haskell, TX. Burial will follow in Willow Cemetery under the direction of Holden McCauley Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm, Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at the funeral home.
