Juanita Massey Obituary

Juanita Josselet Massey

Munday, TX

Juanita Josselet Massey, 96, passed away on December 4, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband Joel Massey, a daughter Julie Smith, a son Joseph Wiley Massey, a sister Almeda Pedneau and her parents, Felix and Flora Josselet.

Services will be held at 11AM, Monday, December 8th, 2014 in the First United Methodist Church in Munday, Texas with Pastor Gary Hubbard officiating.

Juanita was born March 29, 2014 on her parents "The Josselet" farm. She was a Haskell County Pioneer in the truest sense and loves life on the farm. After her marriage to Joel Massey on February 12, 1934, the couple lived on the Josselet Farm until January of 1935 at which they moved to Munday, Texas where they raised their family.

Her passion for life primarily centered on her family and serving others. Her hobbies included playing games with her grandchildren (and great grandchildren), cooking, quilting and sewing. She was an inspiration and daily ray of sunshine to the staff and patients at the Munday Nursing Center with her zeal for life and unequal positive and enduring attitude.

She was a long standing member of the First United Methodist Church in Munday, Texas serving in many positions. Her countless pies, cakes and cookies will forever be missed. She was a diehard fan of the Munday Moguls and Dallas Cowboys and was especially fond of "Troy, Emmitt, and Michael" in their glory days.

She is survived by her son John and wife Judy of Amarillo, Texas, five grandchildren, Chris Smith and wife Susan of Coppell, Texas, Tracy Smith of Amarillo, Texas, Stacy Giles of McKinney, Texas, Brad Massey of Frisco, Texas and Greg Massey of Spokane, Washington, seven great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Chris Smith, Brad Massey, John Michael Massey, Tyler Massey, Trenton Massey, and Wayne Smith.

Donations may be made to Cal Farley Boys Ranch in Amarillo, Texas.
