Lingleville, TX

Kent Cox, 42, of Lingleville, went to be with the Lord, on Thursday, February 27, 2014.

A memorial service will be held, Wednesday March 5, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Lone Star Arena in Stephenville Texas.

Kent was born in Lockney, Texas on June 25, 1971 to Dwight Cox and Cheryl Keller Cox. Kent spent his adolescent years in Abilene, TX and attended Vernon Jr. College on a rodeo scholarship. He has been a long time resident of Erath County. Kent rode Bulls throughout high school and college and was a member of the PBR during its early years. Kent transitioned to the role of Stock Contractor/Trainer over the years and was a record setting bull trainer. Kent could communicate with the bulls in a way that most people could never comprehend.

He is preceded in death by his father Dwight Cox. Grandparents, Bennie and Lottie Faye Cox, and Billy Jack and Clara Keller.

He is survived by his wife Gina Graham. His mother and step father, Randy and Cheryl Lawson of Waco. His sisters Cotii and husband Chris Richey of Hewitt, Jamie and husband Alan Maricle of Eddy, Amanda Lawson of Waco, Kimberly Cox of Dallas and brother Cory Cox and wife Jill of Georgia. Seven nephews, five nieces, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends.

In lieu of Flowers, the family is establishing a memorial fund under Kent's name for riders sustaining brain injuries.

I met Kent at the 2013 PBR finals on a bull housing tour. It was an honor to meet and talk with such an incredible wonderful person. He will be sorely missed, but never forgotten.

I met Kent when he was a young bull rider and we've known each other through the years. I always liked and respected him,especially when he was in teaching mode.He left a legacy and impact on a lot of people and will be missed.So sorry for your loss
