Dr. L.M. Bayouth, Sr.

STAMFORD, TX

Dr. LaNoard Murad Bayouth, Sr. , 78, of Stamford, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at St. John's Methodist Church with Pastor John Erwin officiating. Entombment will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene, Texas. The family will receive visitors from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Kinney-Underwood Funeral Home in Stamford.

LaNoard Murad Bayouth, Sr. was born February 29, 1936 in Memphis, Texas, the son of the late Frank Ed and Fodie Bayouth. He graduated from Snyder High School in 1954. LaNoard married Kay Owens on March 6, 1960 in Brownwood, Texas. He owned and managed Frank's Department Store in Hamlin, and then attended McMurry University and Abilene Christian University. In 1971, LaNoard was accepted into the Baylor College of Dentistry, receiving his DDS degree. Acquiring the nickname of "Nordie" or "Doc", he and Kay made their home in Stamford, Texas, opening and operating his dental practice in Stamford. While maintaining and keeping their home in Stamford, Doc moved his dental practice to Weatherford in 2000. As a college student, he was an avid tennis player, and then playing golf. Not only did he play golf, but he enjoyed spending time shopping for golf equipment. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Stamford and Lighthouse Church in Weatherford.

Preceding Doc in death were his parents; a stepmother, Lorene Bayouth; a brother, Frank Bayouth; and a sister, Bettye Walls.

Doc is survived by his wife, Kay Bayouth of Stamford; a son, Dr. L.M. "Nordie" Bayouth, II of Abilene; two daughters, Laura Popps and husband Boyd of Austin, Leslie Milford of San Angelo; seven grandchildren, Caden Popps, Laney Popps, Ella Popps, all of Austin, Lexie Bayouth, Addison Bayouth, both of Abilene, Samuel Milford, Sutton Milford, both of San Angelo; a sister, Jacqueline Sonnenburg of Abilene; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
