Lendon Walling Obituary
Munday
Lendon Walling, 86, of Munday, passed away November, 29, 2013. He was born March, 23, 1927 to R.J. and Treasure Walling in Knox County. He and Joyce Milford were married July 19, 1945 in Munday, TX.
Lendon was a lifetime resident of Knox County and an avid Mogul football and track fan. He was also a Deacon of Gillispie Church and helped in building the church as it stands now. He was also the song leader and taught classes for many years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, playing baseball and basketball.
He served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the All Service Champion Basketball Team. he retired from the Texas Highway Department on December 31, 1989.
Lendon was preceded in death by his wife in 2008, his son, Jimmy Dale in 1967, and brother Dennis Walling in 2012. He is survived by three sons; Lynn and wife, Barbara of Abilene, Jerry and wife, Andrea of Pampa, Greg of Houston, two daughters; Debbie and husband, Matt Harrington of Knox City, and Brenda and husband, Stanley Hager of Weinert, four brothers; Weldon Walling of Bowie, Randall Walling of Powell, Wyoming, Tommy Walling of Wichita Falls, Larry Walling of Seymour and one sister; Doris Beasley of Wichita Falls. 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and family friend, Ross Jones of Coleman.
Services will be held at 2PM, Monday, December 2, 2013 in the Gillispie Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Gillispie Cemetery under the direction of McCauley-Smith Funeral Home of Munday.

What a wonderful man. As a child spent many of hours and at the Walling house. Always a joy to return to Gillespie church and hear Lendon sing and lead the church in song. My prayers to the family at this time of sorrow.
