Leta Jo Schmidt
Stamford


Leta Jo Schmidt, 76, of Stamford, passed away on Monday, December 20, 2010 in Haskell. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 23, 2010 at First Baptist Church, Stamford. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery under the direction of Kinney-Underwood Funeral Home in Stamford. Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at the funeral home.
Leta Jo was born August 24, 1934 in Jones County, Texas, the daughter of the late Thomas Luther and Bertha Roxie (Skiles) York. She graduated from Stamford High School in 1952. Leta Jo married Edgar Lee "Bobby" Schmidt on February 18, 1956 in Stamford. She worked at the Stamford bank, in various positions for 33 years before retiring. Leta Jo was a lifetime resident of Jones and Haskell Counties and was a member of Central Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Leta Jo is survived by her husband , Bobby Schmidt of Stamford; one son, Steven Lee and Sylvia Schmidt of Stamford; her pride and joy, a grandson, Zachary Lee Schmidt of Stamford; two sisters, Pat Holden of Stamford and Jan Blair of Midland, Texas, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Leta Jo was an amazing woman.Kind heart and so loved by many.She will be greatly missed. My love and prayers are with Bobby, Steve, Pat and Jan.
