Loucille Holmes Obituary

Loucille M. Holmes
Anson

Loucille M. Holmes, loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2011, at the blessed age of 97. December 17, 1913, in Parker County, Texas, was the date of her birth to parents John Walter and Shellie Amelia (Helms) Buntin. Loucille moved with her family to the Tuxedo Community where she received her education. After graduating high school, she met and married the love of her life, Larry Holmes on October 29, 1932. God blessed their lives with two children, June and Bill. They bought their family farm north of Anson in 1947 where they lived until their retirement in 1975 when they moved into the city limits. Loucille was a member of the First Baptist Church of Anson where she served her Lord by singing with her husband in many services and revivals. She also ministered to others through her "chalk talks." Her family will always remember the wonderful meals, beautifully sewn clothing she made but above all the love and Christian influence she showered her three granddaughters with daily. These granddaughters were blessed with a true "angel" for a grandmother, who exemplified the word "grand" and defined the word "Mother"!
Loucille was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Larry, of 54 years; daughter, June; son, Bill; two sisters, Sharon Buntin and Lola Long; seven brothers, Edward Buntin, Louie Buntin, Clifford Buntin, A. L. "Jake" Buntin, Raymond Buntin, Roy Buntin and Jessie Buntin.
Survivors include one sister, Leona Russell of Abilene; three granddaughters, Kay Jones (and husband, Mike) of Anson, Debbie Eklund (and husband, Mike) of McAllen and Daphne Miller (and husband, Justin) of Hinton, IA; one sister-in-law, Delma Buntin Davis of Stamford; one step grandson, Tracy Holmes; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Holmes; seven great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a blessing of friends.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude for the all the wonderful care and support provided to Loucille by the Anson General Hospital Staff, Hendrick Medical Center and Rehab, all the physicians and nurses.
Funeral services will be 2:00 Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Tommy Culwell officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery directed by Adams-Graham Funeral Home in Anson. Family visitation will be Tuesday, February 15, 2011, 6-7:30 p.m. at Adams-Graham Funeral Home, 732 Ave I – Anson.

Kay,
My heart hurts because my friend is hurting... The fabulous memories will be with you forever and cherish every memory knowing that 'Grandmother' is watching over you. Memory is a way of holding onto the things you love, the things you are, the things you never want to lose.

She was met at the gate by your daddy and mother and so many other members of your family as well as all the friends that lead the way for her. You must embrace pain and burn it as fuel for your journey and make it a memory in itself.

Mike, you are a fantastic husband that has sat on the sidelines while Kay has fulfilled her heart and obligations as caretaker. You have encouraged her and kept her lifted up as only a man of God would do. She will need to feed off your strength, and you both know how much you are loved by your family and friends who will be with you both through this journey of grief. Praying for peace that passes all understanding. Love you both my friends ~ Teresa
