Morgan"Mugs"Smith Howard, II, 74, died Monday, February 25, 2013, at his home. A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 4, 2013, at the Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel. Military honors will be 3:00 p.m. at Texas State Veterans Cemetery, directed by Adams-Graham Funeral Home of Anson.

Born November 18, 1938 in Clovis, NM, Morgan was a son of the late Morgan Smith and Bernie (Smith) Howard. He proudly served in the U. S. Marine Corps as a 1st Lieutenant Squadron Leader Helicopter Pilot. Morgan graduated from Texas Tech University in 1959 and married Jana Black. For many years he worked in the irrigation and water solutions industries. Morgan retired from Zurn Industries as Vice President of sales.

Morgan loved sailing the Pacific Ocean, golfing with friends and his bulldogs.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Jana Howard; one daughter, Donna Pursell (and husband, Ken); one son, Morgan "Tex" Howard, III; grandson, Andrew Koebel(and wife, Mallory); two granddaughters, Lyndsay Petersen (and husband, Tony) and McKenzie Howard; four great granddaughters, Spencer, Olivia, Marley and Cambria; two sisters, Sue Howard and Jerry Ann Miller.

Morgan was deeply loved and will be forever missed by those who knew him.
