Ronnie Freeman Obituary

Reverend Ronnie Dell Freeman

Reverend Ronnie Dell Freeman entered the Gates of Heaven. Ronnie was born in Trent, Texas, December 27, 1936, to Opal and Odell Freeman. He wed his grade-school sweetheart Betty Marie Payne on January 21, 1956. They were married for 65 years. He is survived by his wife Betty. Ronnie is survived by his three children: Rebecca Sharp, Robbie Shugart, and Danny Freeman, along with their spouses: Roy Sharp, Steve Shugart, and Debbie Freeman. He also leaves behind six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.

Ronnie graduated from Trent High School and Abilene Christian University. He was an employee of Sweetwater I.S.D., Texas State Technical College, several area oil companies, Taylor Electric Cooperative, as well as Abilene Christian University and Hardin-Simmons University. He served as a deacon at his local congregations for more than 50 years. At the age of 56, Ronnie entered full-time ministry, serving as Pastor of Trent First Baptist Church for 13 years.

While he was a jack-of-many-trades his true passion was farming and ranching. He enjoyed raising Black Angus Cattle on the Bar-O- Ranch, the original farm of his parents, lovingly called 'The Homeplace.' He was loved dearly by his family, friends and community.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift can be sent to Trent First Baptist Church, Box 74, Trent, Texas 79561.

I appreciate Ronnie Freeman and his mom Opel who made the best chocolate chip cokes North F.M. 1085 north of Trent going all the way to Roby. I loved having Ronnie as a bus driver going to school in Trent ISD and back from school. Then you meet with him in the pasture or when working the fields. And always take a break to go to Opel´s house for a bite to eat , & tea.

Mr. Freeman was a soft spoken, right to the point, God loving man. These are rare qualities in 2021. I am forever blessed to have know him and be a small part of the Freeman family.
Love you all bunches,
Sharon Wheat

Ronnie was an amazing man. He always had a smile on his face and an encouraging word for everyone he met or greeted. He was at almost all of the sporting events cheering on the kids as well as the parents. He loved Trent ISD and we were blessed to have him support the community and school for so many years. He leaves a great legacy behind. God bless the family. I pray for peace and comfort during this time.
