Stewart M. Burson, 91, passed away Sunday, November 28th, 2010. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 2nd at Broadview Baptist Church with Rev. David Cason officiating. Graveside services are at 2:30 p.m. in Willow Cemetery in Haskell, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Stewart was born February 2, 1919 in DeQueen, Arkansas to David Jacob and Othella Stewart Burson. He married Elouise Bagley on November 12, 1976. He was the owner of numerous businesses, including Abilene Pecan Company and Abilene Fence Company. Stewart was happiest when he was working and he was an avid gardener. Stewart invited the Lord into his life many years ago and was a member of Broadview Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Theo, Raymond, Denvill, Leon, Albert, and E.C. "Botch" Burson; and two sisters, Rosa Lea Burson and Lois Packwood.
Survivors include his wife, Elouise Burson of Abilene; one daughter Linda and her husband Louis Donnell of Graham; one brother Ernest and wife Dot Burson of Clyde; one sister-in-law, Doris Burson of Haskell; two granddaughters Molly Donnell and Mary Davis and husband Jim; one great -grandson, Colton Davis; one great-granddaughter, Logan Davis; a stepdaughter, Gayle Gollihar of Hodges; a stepson, Douglas Bagley of Hodges; five step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Broadview Baptist Church Building Fund, 2500 South 27th St., Abilene, TX 79605, or to the donor's favorite charity.

Elouise,
Stewart was a fine, fine Christian man who will be dearly missed. I will never forget how he tried and tried to help Mama (Lillian Strouhal) and our son (Daryn) have a fun experience at fishing. They kept getting the line tangled, and Stewart fixed them a rod and real that he said was near to impossible to get tangled. Well, they did. He fixed it time and time again. He would be happy to know that Daryn now has a nice fishing boat and more "equipment" than he will probably ever use, but boy can he catch and cook the best fish ever.
Stewart and Mama and now in Heaven together. He may still be telling her what they did wrong. Mama went to the arms of Jesus on November 21, 2010.
As ours, we know your heart is heavy and there is a big void, but we rejoice in their VICTORY, and know we will be with them again, at God's timing.
