Taylor Kirk Obituary

Taylor "Drew" Kirk

Abilene, TX

Taylor "Drew" Kirk, 23 years 6 months 1 hour and 2 minutes old, our sweet son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend was completely healed on August 16, 2017. He was born on February 16, 1994 at 4:23AM and he left this world and entered Heaven on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at 5:25AM Our Heavenly Father called him home to heal him.

He was preceded in Death by his Paternal Grandfather Danny Kirk.

He is survived by his parents Rusty and Sabrina Kirk of Abilene; brother Cody Kirk and wife Paige and nephew Casten of Abilene; paternal grandmother Tempie Kirk of Abilene; maternal grandparents Bob and Shirley Anthony of Abilene; paternal aunt Tammie Blankenship and husband Danny of Abilene, and cousin Tana of Winters; paternal uncle Stacy Kirk and wife Maxi and cousins Kylee and Maci of Tuscola; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and close friends that are family.

When God sent Drew to us the Doctors told us he would most likely not live past 28 days. God and Drew sure did prove those Doctors wrong because Drew lived here on Earth for a total of 8,582 days, 1 hour and 2 minutes. Drew was born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta (Brittle Bone Disease) but he never let that stop him from achieving his goals. Drew graduated from Wylie High School in 2012. Due to Drew's perseverance in 2013 he was able to get his driver's license which granted him even more independence. Drew started attending Cisco College, Abilene campus, Spring of 2014. During his time there he was instrumental in bringing back the school newspaper The Wrangler Express. Drew received his Associate of Arts Degree from Cisco College May 12th, 2017. Drew began attending Abilene Christian University Spring of 2017. He recently finished up a Maymester and Junemester at ACU and was classified as a Junior. Drew worked at Stephens Processing for his "second dad" Brent Stephens. Drew had so many accomplishments in his 23 years but we believe two of his greatest accomplishments will always be the impact he had on others and the love he had for our Heavenly Father. Drew's love had no boundaries, he loved people for who they were. He was an inspiration to everyone he crossed paths with. He was so strong and so brave. He never quit fighting for himself or for others. Drew will always be a part of who we are because he taught us all how to live life to the fullest.

Be Strong and Courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, For the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9

Saddened for your loss. No words are adequate when you are separated, even temporarily, from a son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, or friend. Drew was an amazing person with a smile that lit up a room.
Our thoughts and prayers are with each member of Drew's family at this time of loss.

Drew was such a special person. I remember the day I met him and his mother when I walked into her uniform shop, they were both working and greeted me as someone they had known. Over the years I had the pleasure of waiting on him and his family at Towne Crier. He always had a hugh smile on his face every time I saw him and he always made my day! Thank you Drew for all the smiles and laughes! You will always be remembered!

I am so sorry for the loss of your son, Drew. He was such a brave and courageous young man. I pray that God will give you peace beyond all understanding and you celebrate the man that he had become. He no longer has to wonder what it feels like to walk or run because he has been restored and walks with Jesus. I can almost hear his laughter and reassurance for us that he is fine. I will miss him dearly but have so many wonderful memories until I see him again. Bee Buxkemper

Sabrina and Rusty, I have never forgotten the joy of caring for Drew as his home nurse when he was 6 - 7 years old. Those days were filled with music, crafts, some stellar drumming skills, and a ton of fun and laughter, enjoying Drew's wit, incredible intellect, and zest for life! He was such a determined and brave kid! I remember fondly drinking Dixie cup "shots" of Dr. Pepper and water, and laughing so hard the day he asked me to teach him how to belch! Which he excelled at - made me proud! And then turned the cup onto his forehead and proudly proclaimed, "Look Annie, I'm a uni-cup! " He was truly a brilliant light in this world. I'm so very sorry for your loss. I hope you are in some small way comforted by knowing just how many lives he touched and brightened.
