Tommy Joe Higgins Sr.
Baird

Tommy Joe Higgins, Sr., age 66, of Baird, Texas, passed away Saturday, February 19, 2011, at his home. Services will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, February 22, 2011, in the Chapel of Parker Funeral Home with Pastor Jimmy Hatcher officiating. Interment will follow in Ross Cemetery Annex. Services are under the direction of Parker Funeral Home of Baird.
Tommy and his twin brother, Johnny, were born in Baird on November 5, 1944, to Roy and Lela Mae Chatham Higgins. Raised in the communities of Admiral and Baird, Tommy graduated from Baird High School in 1963. He worked with his father on the Higgins Dairy for many years, was a truck driver for several area companies, and also worked for the Texas Department of Transportation.
He had been a member of the Admiral Baptist Church and later attended First Baptist Church of Baird. He loved playing dominos at Shady Oaks.
Survivors include 1 daughter, Missy Owens and fiancée Bobby Green, and 1 son, Tommy Higgins and wife Lori, all of Baird, Texas; 1 sister, Barbara Sheffield of Roby, Texas; 1 brother, Jimmy Roy Higgins of Baird, Texas; 4 grandchildren, Holley, Hannah, and Heath Owens, and Jeb Higgins; along with a number of nieces and nephews.
Tommy was preceded in death by his twin, Johnny Higgins, and his parents.
The family suggests memorials to the donor's favorite charity.
The family will be at 818 Greenside, Baird, Texas, on Monday for visitation with friends and family.

I did not know about Tommy passing in time to attend the funeral. I grew us with the Higginses, and consider this a such a loss. Pleas know you are in my prayers.
