Trevor Cate Obituary
On June 3, 2021, Trevor James Cate, 18, of Baird TX succumbed to injuries related to a tragic accident. Trevor was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on March 18, 2003. Trevor attended St. John's Episcopal School through fifth grade. He is a recent honor graduate of Clyde High School.
Trevor was awarded several academic and area scholarships toward his goal of attending Angelo State University as a Business major to graduate debt free.
Trevor lived a consistent and authentic life, bringing light to every room and laughter to everyone. He wanted people to be happy, to know they are valued. He engaged and connected directly with each person he spoke with, whether family member, friend, acquaintance, cashier or server. His confident assurance of faith in Christ was evident; his compassion reflecting who Jesus was to him.
Trevor loved making people laugh with his offbeat sense of humor, exemplified in his all-time favorite portrayal of Ali Hakim in CHS musical OKLAHOMA!! He enjoyed discussions of politics, philosophy, economics and sports. His interests ranged wide including public speaking, acting, competitive UIL debate, entertaining, video gaming as well as playing fantasy football, pickup basketball and spike ball.
Trevor James is survived by his parents, Becky Ford of Baird TX, Tim Cate and bonus mom Kim Rippetoe of Cleveland TN; brothers, Bryan Costlow of Clyde TX, Anthony Costlow of Friendsville TN, Trystan Cate (Morgan York). Avery Cate, Macey Everett (Brandon) of Knoxville TN. Grandparents Blanche Ford, Cisco TX; Rev. Herman and Rev. Janice Cate, Knoxville TN; Great-grandfather Rev Lee Cate, Knoxville TN; bonus parents Gary and Jeannie Curtner, Knoxville TN as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephew.
His family and friends will miss him deeply. Trevor lived his values in a way that continues to encourage and challenge each to faith in Christ.
