William Goodwin Obituary
Born: September 22, 1918
Died: June 2, 2014; in Kankakee
Age 95 of Wesley Township, Wilmington, passed away June 2, 2014, at Miller Rehabilitation Center in Kankakee.
Born September 22, 1918, William John was a son of the late Philip and Myrtle Brock-Goodwin. He was raised in Wesley Twp and graduated as valedictorian from Kankakee HS. On February 20, 1949, William married Ruth Martha Green and together they raised their family on the family farm. William farmed his entire life and took special pride in dairy farming and raising good quality Brown Swiss cattle.
He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, and after retirement, Bill took pleasure in tending to his late wife's flowers and enjoyed working around the farm, doing only tasks that he liked to accomplish.
Survivors include his children: William, Jr. (Carolyn) Goodwin of Elmira, OR, Ross Goodwin of Chicago and Virginia (Rick) Parlato of Mishicot, WI; grandchildren: Matthew and Lisa Parlato of Wisconsin, Sara (Jim) Hall of Decatur, Amber (Kyle) Byers of Colorado and Ira (Clover) Wier of Oregon; great grandchildren: Diana, Caleb, Aiden, Hayden and Claire; brother Erwin (Marlene)Goodwin and sisters: Helen McGranahan and Phyllis Summers, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
William was preceded by his parents, brother Frank, and wife Ruth. Visitation will be Sunday, June 8th from 2:00PM to 5:00PM at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington 815-476-2181. Funeral services will follow Monday morning at 10:00AM in the funeral home with Beverly Dehler from the Ritchey United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Wesley Cemetery.

Dear family, I wish to extend my sincerest sympathy with the death of Bill. The words that come to my mind when thinking of him are: a gentleman, kind, intelligent, quiet and thoughtful.I often visited the farm when I was a 4-H member working with his mother.My parents, Frank & Elizabeth Wesoloski always thought highly of Bill as an outstanding member of the community.I believe I was even told that Virginia was named after me. May you find comfort in knowing that he was such an outstanding person.

My husband Raymond was on the Wilmington
Fire District Board of Trustees with Bill. He so enjoyed him and admired his knowledge. I enjoyed many Fire District parties sitting with Ruth. My

I remember Bill, William, as such an upright and very quiet man in his community. He loved his dairy cows and the country life he'd chosen. He was devoted to coming to the church and functions there. My condolences to his children and family. Virginia play a song on an organ or keyboard if you have one, Bill Jr., and Ross, I wish you the comfort of GOD'S hand on your shoulder. You are a great family. I'll always remember you're father as a great man and great farmer.
