Bill Beck Obituary

Willard "Bill" Dale Beck passed away peacefully at The Homestead in Rexburg on October 1, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Bill was born on April 27, 1940, in Parker, Idaho, to Delilah and Ira Beck. He was the ninth of eleven children and survived by his sister, Patsy Ostermiller. He graduated from South Fremont High School in 1958, where he served as Student Body President.

Bill married his high school sweetheart, Edith Ann Hathaway, on November 27,1959. Together, they had six children and shared 54 wonderful years of marriage before Ann's passing on March 24, 2014. In August 2014, Bill married Beth Beck, with whom he shared many adventures. She passed away on October 5, 2023.

For most of his live, Bill worked for Hathaway Construction and Hathaway Trailer Sales in St. Anthony, where he helped build many homes, commercial buildings, and the Henry's Fork Lodge. He loved his work as a builder and often said he was excited to go to work every day.

A devoted member and leader in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and his community, Bill served as a counselor in the bishopric of the St. Anthony 1st Ward, a temple worker, and as a Senior Missionary at the Rock Creek Girl's Camp. In the community he, served as a City Councilman, and as Mayor of St. Anthony from 2002 to 2009. He was also deeply involved in the Boy Scouts of America for more than forty years. An Eagle Scout and Scoutmaster, Bill received the Silver Beaver Award-the highest council-level recognition for distinguished service to youth.

Bill was infinitely kind and compassionate, incredibly knowledgeable, an eternal optimist, and a man who always found joy in helping others. He spent countless hours assisting his children with building homes and home projects. Known for his quick wit and "dad jokes," he loved playing games (and could be competitive), family drives, leisurely walks through hardware stores, and sweet treats of all kinds.

He is survived by five children: Devan (Lynn) Beck, RoxAnne Loosle, Michelle (Gordon) Harper, Kristina (Rick) Henry, and Natalie (Greg) Hoch; twenty-one grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren, with two more on the way. He adored them all. He was preceded in death by his parents and nine siblings.

A celebration of Bill's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, at the St. Anthony Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 247 E. 4th N in St. Anthony. Family visitations will be held on Friday, October 17, from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at Bert Flamm Mortuary in St. Anthony, 581 E. 1st N., and again on Saturday, October 18, from 10:00-10:45 a.m. at the Stake Center. Interment will take place at Parker Cemetery.

Yesterday

Your dad was such an amazing, kind, patient man. The young kids seemed to really like and enjoy him. I know that Bret mentioned that he was his scout leader and a good one. He was one who would always say hi. RIP Bill and till we meet again.
