Gerald Dick

Gerald Dick, age 73, of Provo, Utah, died on Feb. 2, 2013.
Gerald was born Sept. 22, 1939, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Calvin and Viola (Hanks) Dick.
He graduated from Madison High school in 1958. He graduated from Ricks College in 1960.Gerald received multiple degrees from Brigham Young University, a master's in organ performance and a master's in library science.
He married Judith Jacob Feb. 17, 1964, in Provo, Utah.
Gerald worked at Wicks Organ Company in Highland, Ill., BYU Hawaii (Church College of Hawaii) in Laie, Hawaii; and then at BYU Library in Provo for 33 years.
After his retirement from BYU, he pursued his passion of building harps, forming the HR Harps company. The instruments he designed and built are beyond compare.Gerald also taught countless organ and piano students. He was the organist at St. Mary's church in Provo for many years. He restored a wood and adobe house in Maroni, Utah. He played in a bagpipe band, rode with the scooter club, Brigham's Bees, at The Scooter Lounge, worked at Govinda's Restaurant, and was involved with the Hare Krishna Temple in Spanish Fork.
He was a lifelong student of the world's cultures and religious traditions.
Gerald is survived by his five children, Mary Jones of Dunbar, Pa.,, Cathleen Walker (Dale Blackburn) of Redmond, Wash., Elisabeth (Scott) Williams of Orem, Alan Dick (Susan Henrie) of Las Vegas, Nev., and Caroline Gilmore of Provo. He has twelve adored grandchildren. Gerald is the brother of Roger Dick of Cypress, Texas and David Dickson of Idaho Falls, Idaho.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Historic Utah County Courthouse, 51 South University Avenue in Provo, Utah.
