Janet Arlene (Crain) Meservy passed away October 2, 2022, at home.
She was born in Monterey Park, CA on August 5th, 1944, to Owen Robert and Jane (Wilson) Crain. She was the second of four children. Janet spent most of her life in Southern California and enjoyed the beach, mountains, and many activities and arts in the area. From her father she inherited a love of cars, especially her TR she drove in high school.
She also had a love of laughter and singing, but genealogy was her lifelong passion. Janet married Oliver Kumen Meservy in 1965. They adopted their son, Richard Kumen Meservy, in 1969. The family spent some years in Arizona and Utah, but eventually settled back in Southern California. Janet and Kumen eventually divorced, and Janet married Timothy J Ruof in 1998. Sadly, Tim passed away unexpectedly six weeks later. Janet remained a widow the rest of her life, but she was always surrounded by family and friends. She loved her dogs Ginger, Sophie, and Charlie, who have been her companions for the last ten years.
She was an active member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She worked as a genealogy consultant for many years and served two service missions in the Family History Centers in Rexburg and St. Anthony, Idaho. Janet moved to Rexburg, Idaho to be near her son and his family in 2017.
She is survived by her son, Richard and his wife Jill, and grandchildren Jeremy (Lindsey) Meservy, Gage (Bernadett) Meservy, Jackson (Mira) Meservy, Ally Meservy and Julia Meservy, her brother David (Sheila) Crain, sister Sally Barton, and sister Marie Crain-Wyatt. She loved many things, but of all the things she loved and adored her son and grandkids the most. She was greatly loved by many, and she will be missed.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 10, at 11:00 a.m. in the Rexburg East Stake Center Chapel. The Family will receive friends prior to services from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. also at the stake center.
