Angie Magallanez Duff

November 28, 1945

May 13, 2013

ANGIE MAGALLANEZ DUFF, age 67, passed away on May 13, 2013 at home in Fernley, NV.

Angie was born November 28, 1945 in Mexico to parents Francisco and Petra. She came to the United States when she was in elementary school and was raised by her brother Joe and sister Felima. She married her husband, Doug in the 60s and they were together until his death in 2008. Both Angie and Doug loved the quiet small town environment so they and their two sons moved from Southern California to Alturas, California. They also lived in Susanville, Elk Grove, Texas and finally Fernley. Angie did volunteer work for the Senior Center in Fernley as well as for the Vita Program which provides free services for low income families during the Tax Season. Angie was so conscientious; she did her volunteer work as if she was a paid employee. She was dedicated, never late to work and always helping someone.

Angie was truly loved by all that knew her. She often spoke fondly of her children, grandchildren, and friends never hesitating to tell them she loved them.

After retirement from telecommunications, she gardened with passion, became a master gardener, and spent time giving back.

She is survived by her sons Dean and Mark; daughter in-law Nickie; grandchildren Lucas and Sarah; brother Joe; sister Felima; and numerous nieces and nephews. Angie was also blessed with countless friends, from childhood through her retirement in Fernley.

In lieu of flowers, please support your local seniors and/or volunteer programs in your community. No services will be held; however, please view and sign Angie's Guest Book on the Smith Family Funeral Home Website: http://www.smithfamilyfuneralhomefallon.com.

I asked Angie to come to Alturas and help me do tax returns this last tax season and her answer was no, because she didn't want to be away from her friends for that long. Now, I can see why. It is heart warming to read the posts from her friends that filled her days with fun and laughter. Apart of her will live in all of us.... Thank you for being there for her and supporting her family... I know they will find comfort in knowing she was loved by so many...

Dean and Mark, this is your cousin Eric from Indy. We( Wilma Jean Duff family) are so saddened to hear about the loss of Aunt Angie. Certainly it was always a joy to see her and your dad on the rare occasions we could travel back and forth for family visits. Your mom was the first one to introduce GOOD mexican food to us hoosiers back in the 70's. This was way before Taco Bell's etc. It was such a blessing for me to know your mom. God has a plan for your mom and I am so sorry for your loss. With Best Regards, Eric, Debbie and Alex and Natalie Huffine along with Wilma Jean Huffine.

I met Angie and Doug shortly after I moved to Fernley. We all liked to frequent Silverado in the mornings. When Doug was ill, he was very open about his diagnosis. I offered my best wishes and support. After Doug died, Angie moved on bravely without him. She and I both volunteered at the Senior Center. Whenever/wherever I saw Angie, it was always lovely. She never hid that beautiful smile and was always a pleasure to talk with. God must have needed the best angel when he called Angie home. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and I will treasure her memory and always miss the best hugs.
