Ann Horton Obituary

Ann Elizabeth Horton (Kulesha)

Reno - Ann Elizabeth Horton (Kulesha) 78, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2020. She was born on June 24, 1941 in Porterville, CA to Lyman G. and Helen (Ferguson) Horton. Ann was raised in Pasadena, CA and enjoyed spending summers with her maternal grandmother, Emma in Porterville. She graduated from Westridge Prep School in 1959 and went on to attend the University of Southern California to earn a BA and an MFA in Fine Arts.

Ann began her career in advertising through the media sector of Young & Rubicam in Los Angeles, CA. She was promoted to Senior-Account Manager, and was responsible for national accounts such as Gallo Wines, Hunt-Wesson Foods and the Clorox Corporation. Ann also directed major retail clients including Lincoln Mercury Dealers Association and Ralphs Supermarkets.

She also worked for Della Femina Travisano, a leading creative agency. There she supervised a diverse roster of business including Sheraton Hotels, Sanwa Bank, Six Flags Magic Mountain (entertainment), Carls Jr. (fast food), and NME Recovery Center of America (healthcare). Ann was later recruited by Gannett Corporation to serve as V.P. of Western Business Development in Los Angeles, CA.

In 1987, Ann married her longtime companion and love of her life, Konstantine "Konnie" Kulesha at the home of her parents in Pasadena, CA. They loved and spoiled their three English bulldogs Charlie-Girl, Morgan and Oliver. In 1993, Konnie took an early retirement and they moved to Reno, NV where they designed and built the home of their dreams. Ann joined Dunn Reber Glenn Marz Advertising/Public Relations as an account executive. She was responsible for the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority account.

Ann will forever be remembered for her kind and generous heart. She was a very independent lady and was passionate about life. She loved to travel, host dinner parties, and was a champion at Rummikub. She enjoyed helping her dearest friend, Christel with custom designs at Art Source Gallery. Ann was a proud member of the Madeline Society and supporter of Westridge futures. She was also a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta International Women's Fraternity Alumnae Chapter. In her spare time, she created beautiful handmade cards for The Safe Haven Wildlife Sanctuary store.

Left on this Earth to remember Ann's legacy (until we meet again), her stepdaughter Alexandra Kulesha, step-granddaughter's Abigail and Danielle, sister Carol (Jerry) Hawkins, nephew Lee (Anna) Hawkins and their daughter Allyson, nephew Mark (Sarah) Hawkins and their children Joshua and Evangeline. Her most cherished and beloved friend's Christel Citko, Mark Grow, Nigel Chambers and many, many more dear friends.

Ann now joins her husband (Konnie), their 3 English bulldogs, mother (Helen)and father (Lyman) in heaven. May God give her eternal rest, and all those who loved her be given the strength to bear this great pain.

In honor of Ann's memory, a contribution may be made to her favorite non-profit, Safe Haven Wildlife Sanctuary Imlay, NV.

A private service and burial will be held at Porterville Cemetery at a later date.

Ann was a dear family friend and a funny, generous, and elegant lady. I was searching for a wrap to wear over my high school prom dress and she, very kindly, allowed me to borrow one from a few of her own pieces. I passed on the fur stole, but took her up on a lovely crocheted shawl. Ann was the best at making grilled cheese sandwiches. It seemed to take forever, but they were so worth the wait! She appreciated good food, art, conversation, and humor. All of us Craigs miss your laugh Ann!
