Anthony Blane Obituary

Anthony Vincent ”Tony”

BLANE

Anthony Vincent “Tony“ Blane, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2009, at the age of 85. Born November 7, 1923 in Nottingham, England, to parents Julia and Ronald.

He moved to Canada at an early age and served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during WW II. He married the love of his life, Beryl Garrioch, in 1949. They were married for 38 years, until Beryl's death in 1987. Tony was a door to door salesman his entire working life. The products he sold varied from Fuller Brushes to Colliers Encyclopedias to magnetic signs. He was very successful with his quick wit and sense of humor. He would have you laughing and buying before you knew it. In the mid 50's he moved his young family to the U.S. Over the next 30 years he and his family moved 33 times. Mostly up and down the California coast, with stops in Bellevue, WA, Hawaii and England.

In 1976 Tony and Beryl finally settled down and made Reno their home. They loved it here and eventually two of their three sons would join them in Reno. Tony and Beryl were regulars at Karl's Silver Club in Sparks. Most of Tony's friends were fellow poker players or dealers. At the poker tables he may not have won very many hands, but he won a lot of hearts.

Tony is survived by his three sons, Chris (Isabelita) and Steve (Cathy) of Reno and Peter of Issaquah, WA; grandchildren, Karina, Michael and Carly of Reno and Andrew and Elizabeth of Seattle; brother, Percy (Ernestine) of Calabasas, CA and sister, Patricia Machen of Morro Bay, CA.
