Arlene Williams Obituary

Arlene 'Arlie' Williams

Arlene 'Arlie' Williams passed away on Friday evening, March 20, 2015 at the Renown Medical Center in Reno, Nevada. She was 75.

Born in Vancouver, Washington, Arlie was the daughter of Clifford & Helen Ellis. An only child, Arlie's remarkable creativity was nurtured from an early age. She was always great fun and wonderfully spirited. Her love for cool cars was never discouraged-not even when, as a child with her father away, she painted his WWII military jeep pink.

Arlie attended Corbett Grade and High School before moving to Oregon State University where she received her Master's Degree in Education. Her career in education spanned 40 plus years in San Francisco, Monterey and Yerington.

Arlie is survived by her husband of 28 years, John; her children, Barbara, Scott and his wife Alexandra, step-son, Michael and his wife Tomi, and step-daughter Anna and her husband Brett; her granddaughters, Marissa and Emma and cousin Joan Benner.

John and Arlie married in 1987 and together they built a life and beautiful home in Yerington. She loved her garden, llamas, dogs and cats, Arlie would always find room at the ranch for another homeless animal. Her myriad interests included "packing", collecting antiques, pottery and Tai Chi.

Arlie was committed to the Yerington community and active supporter of local events. She will be greatly missed by the many dear friends she made in Yerington all of whom Arlie's family wish to thank for their love and support. Special recognition is given to longtime friend, Linda La Pierre who remained by Arlie's side in her last moments.

In keeping with Arlie's wishes no local service will be held. Instead of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the Yerington Theatre of the Arts, PO Box 1029 Yerington, NV 89447 or the Friends of the Library, PO Box 152 Yerington, NV 89447, these two organizations Arlie was immensely proud of. Alternatively, a donation could be made to Crown Point Historical Society, PO Box 17 Bridal Veil, Oregon 97010, Arlie's Corbett roots always remained close to her heart.

Family and Friends are invited to sign her online guest book and leave messages for the family at www.FRFH.net, also sympathy cards may be sent directly to John from this site. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home, 25 Hwy 208 Yerington, NV 89447 (775) 463-2911.

Arlene was my best friend at Corbett High School. No one could have been more fun - I will always smile at the thought of her. My heart goes out to all who loved her as I did.

May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and gave everlasting comfort and good hope by means of undeserved kindness, comfort your hearts and make you firm in every good deed and word.

I am Arlene's second cousin who still lives in Corbett, Oregon about a quarter mile from where Arlene was raised. We are all saddened by the news of her passing.
