Chelsea Bowen Obituary

GILMANTON ; With great sadness, Scott and Ida Bowen of Gilmanton announce the sudden and tragic loss of their beloved daughter, Chelsea Rae Bowen, on March 16, 2009. She was 15 years old.

Chelsea was born in Laconia on Aug. 30, 1993, and her family lived in Alton and Rochester before settling on Oak Street in Laconia. She attended the Holy Trinity School in Laconia, then the Pleasant Street School before moving to Gilmanton.

Chelsea graduated with high honors from the Gilmanton School in June 2008. She received the President's Award for Academic Excellence, the Scholastic Art and Writing Award, the Nelson Family Award and the Art Award.

Chelsea was a freshman at Gilford High School. She loved art and cherished the company of her many dear friends.

Chelsea will be forever missed by her twin sister, Miranda, and younger sister, Brianna. Together they formed a trio of the closest friends imaginable.

Chelsea also is survived by her grandparents, Ira and Charlotte Locke of Amesbury, Mass.; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins from New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

Calling hours will be Saturday, March 21, from 3-6 p.m. in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Sunday, March 22, at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph Church, 30 Church St., Laconia, by Rev. Gary Kosmowski, pastor of the Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Chelsea R. Bowen Memorial Art Scholarship, c/o Lakes Region Scholarship Foundation, PO Box 7312, Gilford NH 03247-7312.

Not sure what to say?

July 9, 2019

I am currently deployed overseas and just so happened to spot a sticker in remembrance of Chelsea. I decided to look her up and just wanted to say she is and was an angel. Dealing with personal issues myself these kind of stories touch home. I'm sure she was an amazing person and I hope the years that she's been gone you all have felt her presence. She may be absent from the body, but she is definitely present with the lord and with you all each and everyday. Rest in eternal peace Chelsea.

When Chelsea left us, I was a little girl. Now I'm about to be a mother, and I don't know where time has gone. We all have to find the strength to move forward, each day.

Hope you're resting easy Chelsea, and I hope my little angel will meet you before he comes to live on earth with me.

July 28, 2010

I pray for you every night, and I'm always going to miss seeing that lovely face. I can't believe it's been so long; the hurt feels like it was just yesterday. I will always love you, and you'll never be forgotten. You are forever in our hearts. God bless you, Chels.<3

Just one day short of one year; one year tomorrow. I think about you everyday Chelsea, from the songs I listen to that remind me of you to the people I see whose lives you have touched. Every night before I go to sleep I look at your picture next to my bed. I pray for your friends and family all the time, especially Miranda and Brianna because the bond between sisters is unbreakable and those two need more strength than anyone. You have touched so many lives and I only wish you could have known how many people care about you. I envy how much a individual you were, you didn't care what anyone thought and always marched to the beat of your own drum. Your laughter and smile helps us each get by everyday. I hope you are in a better place and much happier now. Rest easy Chelsea <3 things will never be the same without you lovey!

Words can't even begin to explain how I feel. It's almost been a year but the pain and guilt just won't go away. I still cry a lot when I'm by myself...I don't think I'll ever accept the fact that you're gone and you're not coming back.
I wish I could have said goodbye. I wish I could tell you how much of an amazing sister you still are and how thankful I am that I had someone like you to talk to. I could never forget all those late nights where we would stay up and talk and tell each other secrets that we couldn't trust anybody else with.
Everyone misses you lots. But we all experience our pain in different ways...for me, I lost my best friend in the world. I lost my biggest role model. I always wanted to be just like you, from the way you dressed to the things you like to how beautiful you were. But I also lost my sister and life will never be the same without you.
Everyday I think of you. Something always reminds me of you and makes me want to cry. I remember when you promised you'd never leave me, when you told me you could talk to me about anything and that as long as we had each other then we could make it through anything. I can't change the way things ended, but I know that you're still with me and looking out for me, just in another place now.
I hope heaven is all you ever dreamed of. I can't wait to see you again <3
Rest Easy, Chelsea <3
I'll love you forever

Chelsea, I didnt know you for very long. But I know that you touched many people with your contagious laugh, smile that could light up the room and your outgoing personality. I remeber that day I met you at Gilford Old Home day and we realized that we have the same birthday. Then you told me you had a twin sister, and i didnt believe you. Haha one of the best days of my life, and i will capture that moment and keep it in my heart forever. Not a day goes by that i dont think of you, and to think it's been nearly a year sense you've been gone is just so unreal.
We all love you and miss you way more then you could ever imagine. You were such a smart girl and new how to make anyone smile, even on there worst days. I will always remember those hilarious conversations we had.
I know you will always have that pretty smile of yours on your face.
I hope you are having fun up there girl, keep smiling and watching over us.
Save me a spot up there. Rest easy love <3
Our birthday will never be the same.

Bowen family, my thoughts and prayers go out to you everyday. Stay strong, Chels was an amazing girl.

I found a poem for the upcoming Christmas. You will be here in spirit, with Christ, and get to enjoy the real meaning of Christmas as you have only been taught. But we'll still miss you.

I thought of you with love today, but that is nothing new.

I thought about you yesterday and days before that too.

I think of you in silence, I often speak your name.

All I have are memories and your picture in a frame.

Your memory is my keepsake, with which I’ll never part.

God has you in his keeping. I have you in my heart.

Chelsea. I first met you in the hallways of the school. I was mesmerized by your smile. I kept seeing your artwork hung up in the wings of the school. I finally knew you better by Spanish Club. Your artistry was amazing. And your smile is still stuck in my head. I didn't know you as well as others did. But it was a please meeting you and befriending you. You have no idea how many people love you and miss you. The amount cannot be counted on a pair of hands.

Her smile, her laugh, her singing, and her beauty are just a few of the things we all miss about Chelsea. Not being able to see her smile, hear her laugh, hear her sing, or look at her is so hard. I only wish that I could bring her back just so she could see how many people were here for her and how many people loved her. I would do anything to have Chelsea back in our lives.

I remember the first day I went to Holy Trinity. Chelsea and miranda were standing outside on the playground and Chelsea walked right up to me, the shy 1st grader that i was (she being only in kindergarten) and said "Hi, I'm Chelsea Rae Bowen". It only takes one person to brighten someones day...and that is exactly what she did...She will always be missed and I will always remember her as the little girl who brightened my day. Every time the sun shines now, that is exactly what she is doing. Rest In Peace Chelsea

To othe grandparents of Chelsea Bowen:

I read about the passing of your granddaughter and just want you to know that I am keeping you in my prayers. My husband and I have a 15 year old granddaughter and I can't imagine losing her. There are no words to express my sympathy, but perhaps hearing from someone you don't even know will help you realize how many people are supporting you at this most difficult time. Please know that God cares for you... always... and especially at this time.

Jill R.

April 24, 2009

Scott, I am so sorry for the loss of your daughter. I just wanted you to know you are in my thoughts and prayers. My mother is saying a rosary for your family. If I could do one thing for you, I would speed up time so it was 10 years from now. I know that the passage of time is the only thing that will eventually help. Until then, there isn't anything anyone can do to make it bearable. Just know people are thinking of you and your family. Many more than you realize.

April 24, 2009

I'm Julie Andrews, Miranda's Interpersonal Relationships teacher (am also the school health teacher). I read your post today at the board set up for
your daughter, Chelsea. I didn't send your family a card and wanted to express my sympathy to you, Miranda, Brianna, and your husband. I didn't
have the chance to meet Chelsea. I've heard wonderful things about her from
fellow teachers and students, alike. I also want to tell you that Miranda is a very special young lady. She is very brave and has done some nice work in my class so far. If I can ever be of any assistance to you, or Miranda, I hope you will feel free to ask. I wish you much grace and strength in the days ahead...many at GHS are thinking of you.

Dear Bowen family,

Deepest sympathy to your entire family. The loss of a child causes more pain in someones heart then one can imagine. I wish you the best in this crazy and unexplainable world.

Rest Peacefully Chelsea.

Dear Bowen Family-

I have thought long and hard to try and find the right words to say to you. I'm afraid I can not find them. What I do want you to know, and I hope it will bring you comfort in knowing that you are not alone and you are loved. You are always in our thoughts and prayers.

April 18, 2009

Chelsea,
It has been a month now since you left us, but it seems like just yesterday we saw your beautiful, smiling face. Our home was always brighter when you were here. You were always talking, joking, laughing, smiling, or singing and dancing every time we saw you.

The world is a better place now for having had you in it, even though your time here was so very short. We will always remember you and hold you in a special place in our hearts and minds, ALWAYS with good memories of you.

We miss you more than words can say, but we know that you are in God's loving hands, and we would not want anything less for you.

May you rest in peace as God's newest Angel, and know that you are missed and loved by so many people now and always.

Scott, Ida, Manny, and Breesy,
Words cannot describe how sorry I am to hear about this loss. I know this loss has hurt you so much but I am at a loss as well. Since I read the news, I asked myself and God, why? I never got an answer but have come to this conclusion. God needed an angel desperately so he took Chelsea. The nite I heard the news it was raining quite hard. As tears ran down my face, a Buddy Jewell song popped in my head. I realized that God's first task for Chelsea was to "help pour out the rain." Chelsea, I just want to say I love you with all my heart. Thank you for touching my life and making me a better person for knowing you. Lastly, I look forward to having you watch over us and I will count down the days when I can see you again in heaven. Love, Rob

The Bowen Family

Chelsea was such an amazing character with a contagious personality. I first met her when she entered high school, but even in such a short time, I have so many memories. She always was dancing when she heard music, and joking to make you laugh. Her smile could light up a room, and never left her face. She is happy and watching over us all.

Scott and Family,
It has been some 18 years since our time spent serving our country together at Incirlik AB. I remember your sense of humor, smile and zest for life. After reading many of the entries for your daughter, i have come to the realization she was no exception to this rule. I truly wish there was something i could do to help you and yours in these times. Please do not hesitate to call on us for anything. With deepest sympathy, Cooper Helwig and Family

Mr. & Mrs. Bowen, Miranda and Brianna -

Stay strong. Chelsea was an amazing person and you must always remember that. Never forget what she meant to you and use that as your strength when you are down. Just know that as hard as things are and may be, she would want you to be happy. May Chelsea rest in peace and may her pain be gone.
