Connie Anderson Obituary

Connie Anderson

Connie passed away peacefully of natural causes on September 3rd, in her home in Sparks, Nevada. She was 74 years old and was surrounded by friends and family. Connie was born in Pine Ridge, South Dakota on August 23rd, 1942. She was the first born of Alice Lee and Charles Parkhurst. She was a member of the Oglala Sioux Native Indian tribe.

During her high school years she moved to Wolf Point, Montana. In 1967, Connie moved to Reno and by the late '60's she was blessed with the birth of her son, Chris. By the mid 1970's she had her second child, Fiana.

Connie was a smart, strong-willed and independent person. She chose to continue her education and graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Economics from UNR in 1985 and went to work for Washoe Legal Services. In 1987, she was appointed to the Sparks Planning Commission and then reappointed again 1988 to serve a four year term. In 1993, she was hired as an Administrative Analyst with TMRPA. She was continually promoted and deservedly gained the position of Regional Planner.

In 2007 she had three wonderful milestones: Connie became a grandmother to Dominic, she received a Master Degree in Planning from UNR, and she retired from working with TMRPA after serving fourteen years. Connie was very involved and politically active, frequently attending City Council meetings.

Her daughter Fiana describes her as positive, kind, funny, strong, intelligent and beautiful.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents and her brother John Parkhurst. She is survived by her son, Chris Anderson and daughter, Fiana Anderson, as well as her sister Beverly Monday.

There will be a Celebration of Life at her home in Sparks on October 1st, at 2pm. We would like to give special thanks to Jeff Dold and Sherry Huckaby for all the support and love.

May God Bless your family as you learn to live without Conine. She was such a vibrant presence and full of life. Thank you for allowing me to be one of the many caregivers to take care of her in her last month's, she blessed my time with her. She made a lasting impression on my heart forever. My prayer is that she was made whole and vibrant once again the moment she stepped through the veil! Tonia Axelson

My deepest condolences to the family during this most difficult time. It's hard to find words that can ease the pain of losing someone so beloved. May you find comfort and peace in knowing that your love one is in God's memory. (Psalms 116:15)
