Craig will be remembered as having passion and high energy in all things he did in life.

Craig was a police officer with the Reno Police department for over twenty years. During his tenure Craig was active in numerous special assignments that included, the SWAT team, Canine and Bomb detection unit. He was especially proud of developing the Crime Awareness program, Senior Auxiliary Volunteer Effort (SAVE) and his integral participation in development of a world class electronic control device (TASER) program. Craig was always eager to broaden his knowledge and work on projects that would develop better policing policies to best serve the community he so dearly loved to serve.

Craig recently retired from the Reno Police department. He and his family returned to his home town of Camino California in the beautiful Apple Hill area

Most importantly Craig loved his role as a Honorable father, husband and family man.

Craig is survived by his beautiful daughters Taylor J. Pittman, Monica C. Brown and loving wife Maria Pittman.

Craig is also survived by his parents Larry and Carol Pittman and sister Debbie Cedar.

Craig will also be greatly missed by his many extended family members, colleagues and good friends.

June 11, 2016

I'm writing on behalf of Taylor Pittman, your only child and devoted daughter. It's been nearly four years since your death. Not a day goes by without your memory. Taylor is finding her way in the world. She is tall, strong and beautiful, inside and out. She is loving, has your sarcastic wit, and is already a powerful force in this world. She is a national qualifier in Speech and Debate, two years in a row. She is making straight A's. She wants to be a lawyer. She also wants to make you proud. I'm sure you already are and I'm sure you've never left her side.

I think of you every day and wish I could change past events, but I can't change things.
You have so many friends and people who hold you in high esteem and thought the world of you. You are missed so very much by so many people. Your name is mentioned frequently in conversations. When someone joins in the group and they don't recall the name, they are told by others about you and what you did for The Reno Police Department and the community and people who live there. They have not forgotten who you are and what you accomplished during your watch.
Love and miss you more than words can express. Momma

Thinking about you and feeling a little lost.
Craig, we have always been so Proud of you but we did not really know all the wonderful things that you did for others and how you touched their lives.
You were alway brilliant, compassionate , honest to a fault and would always be there when you were needed or just to give moral support to a fellow officer. We learned how humble you were by doing what you loved to do and not expecting anything in return.
You touched many young people and gave them the opportunity to see what they could do in their lives. You did this because you wanted them to succeed in their own lives. You truly cared about these young people and they looked up to you as an example of interigty, humor, compassion. You set the bar for them for the first time. You were just the wonderful loving son, a police officer, who truly cared for others. Your wonderful smile, sense of humor and easy going personality made other to feel comfortable in your presence.
You were humble and yet you conveyed the pride and honor you gave so freely.
I miss you so very much Craig. I thank God for the Blessing of having you as our Son.
We love you so very, very much....,..Mom & Dad

I miss you every day. I would love to hear your voice or your wonderful laugh.
It will be 3 years in Sept. Since you went to Heaven with God.
You would be so proud of Taylor. She has won (with her team) honors for her debate skills. She has bee n invited to
Harvard or Stanford to take part
In the art of debating. Tay is so
Excited and so are we. She is
An awesome young lady and I know you would be so proud of her.
She will be going to see her
Grandma Larkin soon. I know
She will have a great visit .
She has grown to be a very pretty young lady and is beautiful and very intelligent.
All those hours you spent working with her have paid off for her. You coached her and
through your love and patience taught how important learning
would be to success in her future . I know you are there giving her your love and support. You are a wonderful
father to Taylor.
We all Love you Craig and will
see you again. . Momma

I knew Craig what seems like forever ago. We met when I was a Explorer with the El Dorado County SO. Craig was such a good friend and I am so saddened to read of his death. I just happened to look him up because I will be moving back to the Reno area and thought it would be wonderful to see him and meet his family. I send you my prayers and will always keep a place in my heart for my friend.

It is now 10/26/2014 and it has been over 2 years since you Passed and it feels like yesterday. We miss you so much Craig. Taylor is doing great but she misses you everyday. She has your Sprite, intellect, humor, laugh. Taylor is so pretty and when she is doing debates against other schools, she just glows. I know you took your time and you instilled in her the work ethic and the confidence she exhibits now. You ever an excellent Dad. I just wish you could have been here with us and shared our lives together. I light this Candle for you tonight with all the Love any Mom could muster. You were the best of the best and I am honored to have been given you as my Son. I Thank God for the Blessing. Momma

I hope you are fishing everyday, pain free, happy and waiting for us in God's beautiful Gardens.
I still find it very hard to get through a day without tears. I can't explain the emptiness that seems to consume me. I am just so grateful to have had you as our son. You were so loving, full of life and had that amazing sense of humor, your laugh was contagious and you loved being a Dad
Rest in Peace my wonderful son and know you are always in our thoughts.

Hi My Baby: I thought I received an email from Legacy, but when I checked, there was none.
I miss you so very much as does the entire family. I guess I wanted to say. "I Love You".
It does not seem fair that such a good and loving person should have had to go so soon when a lot of really bad people go on forever. I guess God has a plan.....I just don't understand it.
Xoxo. Momma. :0)

A tribute was held for you today.(10-20-12). I was not able to attend. I guess I am not as strong as I thought. Your Services here at home were beautiful. All your friends from here and Reno attended. You had a beautiful Honor Guard and the tributes were an insight to you as an officer, friend,an honorable man who really loved his job and the citizens you were there to help and protect. You were an awesome officer and a real friend to many. Some say they will miss that "Pittman" sense of humor that they all knew. I heard that Taylor arose once again and gave a tribute that had people sitting in stunned slience. You were always right there with her, encouraging and teaching, urging her to do her best. Dad she did you proud!! We still miss you Craig. So very much. It is so comforting when I feel your presence when I am feeling down. It is uplifting. I would love to have any of you fellow officers send me some of the stories about you. I will say it once more my son, You were an amazing gift from God and I am so very, very and grateful to have called you "SON" I know that Taylor will be a comfort to us and want you to know that our family will always be here for her. She is loved so much. I hope you know that and it is comforting to you. Loving You Always.......Momma

Craig I wish I could hold you in my arms just on last time and tell you how grateful we are to God for you. You were an amazing son. Smart, funny, loving, generous, Always trying to put others before yourself. Your quest for interigty, knowledge, sense of honor, always trying to make life a little better for others in need. You were an outsranding husband to Maria. Your love for each other was beautiful. You were always there for your daughters, Taylor and Monica. You and Taylor had and still have such an amazing connection. You could just look at each other and a sparkle would gleam in your eyes. You knew what the other one was thinking without saying a word. Then your laughter would become contagious. You were and still are her "Hero". I sincerely hope that all those long evening the two of you worked on for her future eduaction will still come true. Your daughter, Taylor, is so much like you. Intelligent, focused, and driven to suceed. Her sucess will be a credit to you Craig.
Monica loved you Craig. She really appreciated that you accepted her for who she is and the artistic talents that she expressed throught her art, dress and designs she creates. Most people just stare or try and ignore her talent. People should never judge a book by the cover. True beauty can be within. Your one amazing Dad Craig.
I have always believed that Children are true gifts from God. They are ours for a short time to Love, Teach and enjoy. But there comes a time that we have to let go and let them try their wings like baby birds. Then they go on and build their lives. We am proud of you and your sister Debbie. The part that is so hard for me to accept is that a child can get called home by God before the parnets. You very so young and had so much more to give. I do realize that your are no longer in such unbelieveable pain day and night and that God was relieving you from that terrible burden. I guess, maybe, that I can try and get a grip on the fact that I will never hold you or hear your voice or laugh again. We have learned more about your life from your friends and it is very comforting. They were right..you were someone very special! I thank all of them for sharing memories of you with us. Rest in Peace and in Gods Loving Care My Son. You are missed so very much.
All Our Love, Mom, Dad, Debbie,Natosha,Jakob,Charles, Kaila, Neytanya and the rest of the family.

This is from TEAM TASER. We as a company owe tremendous gratitude for Craig's unwavering support of the first TASER system brought to Nevada. Craig was in the ring battling for a tool for his agency. He helped with policies, training, the city councils, and at our conferences. He took a licking, kept on ticking (and made us laugh along the way). When he fell at one of our conferences, he had the full support of a more than 100 officers from the world over. He was good to me and he was good to TEAM TASER and even better in his service. We are saddened at TASER but do know that we knew him and we'll remember him well. We will remember and salute his passing at our next Master Instructor TASER Course in Charlotte this Monday.

I was sorry to hear about Officer Pittman. He was much to young to die. I worked with him when I volunteered to work on Graffiti Patrol, a program that truly helped to make a difference in our community.

Rest in Peace.

R.I.P. Craig. I have lots of great memories, and plenty of good stories, most of which are inappropiate to tell at a memorial service, but are sure to be a hit at the wake!
Even if none of left know exactly what the they were, I believe you learned the lessons you were supposed to learn, and taught the lessons you were supposed to teach while you were here.
Peace.

Craig I was saddened to hear you were gone. I will always remember the late night study times we had in the academy and the memorable times we shared together on the street. You served the Reno Police Department and the city of Reno with excellence and you will be missed.

Craig was loved by many members of the RPD and was a well respected member of the Reno, Sparks Law Enforcement Community. Craig gave many hours of training to Officers while helping make the Department a model agency. Craig always had a kind word and would stop and talk about issues at hand and had many, many friends at the RPD. He was always well respected and was an example to all. Craig made his mark and will be miss by the RPD Family.
